Senior journalist Shishir Joshi has teamed up with fellow journalists and teachers to start a one-year post-graduate diploma programme in Journalism. The course would be conducted in Mumbai and is based on a four-quarter system with a total of 36 credits and boasts of mentorship programmes with senior journalists and editors. There are only 25 seats on offer. Most importantly, no eligible student would be denied admission for lack of financial means - an interest-free loan would be provided, which can be repaid later. Students have the option of sending their application packet in any Indian language if they want to pursue journalism in that particular language.
The course details are on their website: www.JournalismMentor.in. The last date for applications is June 15, 2009. Short-listed applicants will be interviewed at the end of June, and the final list of candidates would be declared on July 1, 2009. The course begins from August 1, 2009.
