Prestige prides itself as one of the best institutes in central India. Located close to the industrial belts of Pitampur and Devas, the institute places almost all its students for summer internship and industrial training in these industrial belts. The institute is accredited by NAAC and AICTE. The institute has also been conferred autonomous status by UGC, and Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya has accorded permanent affiliation to the institute.

We visit PIMR on a day when students are busy appearing for term exams.However, the little but intense interaction that I had with students, faculty and the Director did give me a good glimpse of the institute. The institute building is pleasant and shows off its pro-academic ambience. The complex comprises lecture halls, computer labs, library, electronics lab etc. The library and the computer lab had very few takers, maybe because of the ongoing exams. The convention centre is used for all events- conferences, festivals, convocation etc. The fully computerised library had a good collection of more than 25,000 books, with a separate section for major research projects and remains open for 12 hours a day. 

The institute began by conducting programmes leading to an MBA and BBA. However, of late it has started the following programmes: MBA (International Business), MBA (Marketing Management) and BBA (Foreign Trade). The flagship two-year MBA is divided into four semesters, offering specialisation in Marketing, Finance, HR, Information Systems and Production & Operations Management. The first three specialisations are in great demand. The first two semesters cover the core courses in general management including courses on IT basic, business communication, research methodology and respective functional fundamentals. The institute lays a lot of emphasis on research. It is a recognised research centre for PhD programmes with 26 students having registered for a PhD and 25 scholars having been awarded the Doctoral degree.

There are separate hostels for boys and girls. While the boys’ hostel is located a kilometre away, the girl’s hostel is at a distance of 10 minutes by walk. The institute prides itself on its centres of excellence - Centre for Human Resource Development, which conducts MDPs, Centre for Holistic Management, Centre for Knowledge Management and a Centre for Entrepreneurial Development. There is also an assessment centre, which enables an individual to know his/her strengths and weaknesses.

It appears that extra-curricular activities are a big draw for the students. With a moderate fee, great location, a good placement track record and a prominent position in central India, Prestige is a name to reckon with for students in this part of the country. Moving forward, the institute would do well to lay greater emphasis on learning, while continuing their good work in placements, industrial exposure and personality grooming.
