WHAT the fellows will learn:
- How to mentor an innovator and use your entrepreneurial skills to enable the successful commercialisation of a grassroots innovation
- Acquire in-depth understanding of the innovation and social enterprise sectors
- Develop specific expertise in technology development and business planning
- Implement the best (international) practices from industry
Note: The fellows would operate from Chennai, India, as the base and may be required to travel or stay at the location of the Innovators they are working with. All travel and stay would be primarily based in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu.
Eligibility:
- Corporate professionals/ Social Entrepreneurs who want to contribute towards ending rural poverty.
- Engineers or Agriculture graduates with 3-5 years of work experience
- Experience or exposure to new product development, project management or business planning, venture capital organisations, rural markets or social sector would be an added advantage
Number of fellowships: Upto 7
What it covers:
- Local travel to and from the office, accommodation, local transportation for business needs, food, health insurance and incidentals.
- A stipend of Rs. 25,000/- per month to cover meals, housing and incidental costs.
- To and fro transportation of the shortest route for all, to Chennai from their place of domicile. In addition, travel expenses to Innovator location, for Quarterly meetings and any other Villgro meetings during the Fellowship will be borne by Villgro.

- Short listed candidates will be intimated and will have to send in a 500 word essay on "Describe one of your accomplishments from the personal or professional front which impacted others" along with 2 professional references.
- This will be followed by a telephonic interview and shorltisting.
- The shortlisted applicants will be required to take an online 16 personality factors test.
- The applicants shortlisted for the second round would be required to attend an interview.
- The offer letters would be issued in July to the applicants selected for the fellowship.
