PUDUCHERRY has nine engineering colleges with total intake of 3405. Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College, Bharathiyar College of Engineering. & Technology and Pondicherry Engineering College are institutes with intake of 450 and above. There is no separate entrance exam and admission is based on marks secured in either Class 12 or HSC Vocational and ‘normalizing’ them by the prescribed procedure. For candidates applying against other States/UTs’ quota of seats, admission is based only on marks secured by them in “AIEEE”.

Eligibility criteria
A pass in HSC or equivalent exam with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate in Maths, Physics and any one of Chemistry/Biotechnology/Computer/Biology. Candidates having passed HSC (vocational stream in engg) exam or equivalent with  minimum of 45% marks in vocational subjects and a related subject (Maths/Physics/Chemistry)
