  • THE Supreme Court ruled on May 6, 2010, that until all the affected universities are heard by the court, no institutions would be shut down.

The court denied the request by the Government of India to prevent new admissions at  44 affected institutions, and ordered that pending the disposal of the case, fresh admissions could continue, according to media reports.

This brings a temporary relief to the institutions concerned as they could continue admissions in the current academic year too. Watch this space for more information, once we get the relevant order of the court.
