    You will study a general engineering course followed by professional mining classes in drilling and blasting, materials handling, rock mechanics, mine health and safety, mine ventilation, mine cost engineering, ore reserve analysis, operations analysis, mine planning, and minerals processing. You are required to apply knowledge of scientific theory, engineering fundamentals, and improved technology to recover natural resource.

    Further education
    After completing a BTech/BE you can opt for further studies in various specialisations. Some of the options available  are:  Opencast Mining, Mine Planning & Design, Rock Excavation Engineering, Underground Space Technology and Geomatic Engineering.

    Graduating in the subject will give you a versatile education that will open many professional opportunities. Both private & public sectors of the mining industry offer a wide range of opportunities. Minimising ecological and environmental damage caused during mining is one of your most important responsibilities as a mining engineer. You will also be needed in the construction industry and the hazardous waste disposal industry.
