The one-year Diploma in Hearing, Language and Speech is offered by its Kolkata, New Delhi and Bhubaneshwar centres. Those having passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology or equivalent are eligible to apply. The Diploma in Special Education is a two-year course offered at Kolkata, New Delhi and Bhubaneshwar centres. The candidates must have passed 10+2 from a recognized Board of Education. National Institute for Visually Handicapped, Dehradun (Uttarakhand), which has a centre in Chennai, is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The Institute is a training centre for the blind. In addition, it also provides rehabilitation services to the rural-based visually handicapped persons through its community-based rehabilitation activities. It is also engaged in production of Braille literature, aids and appliances for the visually handicapped.
It offers a one-year Bachelor’s of Mobility Sciences (Visually Impaired) recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (Government of India) and affiliated to H.N.B. Garhwal University, Srinagar, Uttaranchal. This Degree course helps the students become orientation & mobility and special physical education professionals of the visually impaired (Blind and Low Vision) in various educational and rehabilitation centres. Graduates in any discipline can apply for this course.

Prosthetics and Orthotics offer rehabilitation to people with locomotor disabilities and is an essential part of paramedical sciences. This branch of specialisation helps in dealing with disabilities caused by amputation, those who lost a part of their limb due to polio, cerebral palsy, congenital skeletal limb deficiencies and spinal cord injury.
The All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is the apex institute in Physical Medicine Rehabilitation under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It offers a four-year Bachelor’s course and a two-year Master’s course in Prosthetics and Orthotics. Students who have passed Class 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology are eligible for the Bachelor’s course. The intake is 30. In order to pursue Master’s in Prosthetics and Orthotics, a student needs to have a Bachelor’s in the same subject with a 6-month internship. The courses get affiliation from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. The Institute also offers courses in Physiotheraphy, Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation.

Forensic sciences apply modern knowledge – such as psychology, chemical analysis, biological and physical sciences — to resolve legal issues and crime. Gujarat Forensic Sciences University conducts Degree/ Diploma/ Certificate courses in the field of Forensic Science, Behavioural Science, Criminology and other allied areas. One of the objectives is to create technically skilled manpower in the field of forensic science and behavioural science, which is the need of the hour in many countries including India as there is acute shortage of such experts.
The university offers a two-year MSc in Forensic Sciences. Students with BSc/B.Tech/BE/MBBS/B.Pharma with 55 percent marks or equivalent can apply for this course. The selection of candidates is based on academic record and an entrance test conducted by the university. The intake of the course is 35 (including five NRI seats). Sankara Nethralaya is a super speciality institution for ophthalmic care that treats patients coming from across the country and abroad. Since inception in 1978, the Postgraduate Training Center has been offering Fellowship programmes in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery and General Ophthalmology to holders of Postgraduate Degree and Diploma in Ophthalmology. An MBBS student who has completed one year of compulsory internship is eligible to apply. The applicants are selected on the basis of a written multiple-choice test followed by an interview.

Radiation and Radio Isotope have important applications in medicine. A very predominant use of radiation and radio isotope is in the treatment of cancer and related diseases. Radiation therapy may also be used in the treatment of other diseases, such as coronary artery disease, by applying a large radiation dose to a small area on the inside surface of the vessel to reduce the probability that the artery will close (occlude) in the future. Homi Bhabha National Institute offers a two-year Diploma in Radiation Medicine (DRM) and one-year Diploma in Medical Radio Isotope Techniques (DMRIT).
For applying to DRM, a candidate should have an MBBS degree or a postgraduate medical degree from an institution recognised by Medical Council of India (MCI). Selection is based on a 3-hour Common Entrance Test (CET) consisting of multiple- choice questions. The candidates will receive a stipend of Rs. 16,000 per month in the first year and Rs. 17,000 per month in the second year. In order to apply for the DMRIT, the candidate should have a BSc Degree with 60 percent marks in any of the science subjects like Chemistry, Physics, Life Sciences, Biotechnology or Medical Radiological Technology. Those having MSc degree can also apply, though no special preference will be given to them. Selection for this course is also based on a CET. Selected candidates will receive a stipend of Rs. 9300 per month.
