AILET (All India Law Entrance Test)
AILET is an entrance test conducted by National Law University Delhi for law admissions to its 5-year undergraduate course. The cost of application form is Rs. 2500 for General category and Rs. 1000 for SC/ ST and PD.
Eligibility: A candidate should have passed Higher Secondary School/Intermediate Examination (10+2) with not less than 50% marks in aggregate. Those candidates appearing for their Class 12 examination in March/April, 2012 are also eligible to apply.

Test pattern and selection: AILET paper is of 90 minutes containing 150 questions from the following sectionsEnglish: 35 questions, General Knowledge/Current Affairs: 35 questions, Mathematics: 10 questions, Legal Aptitude: 35 questions, Logical Reasoning: 35 questions.
Selection is based on merit.
Common Law Admission Test (CLAT)
CLAT is an all-India entrance examination conducted for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes (BA LLB & LLM) of 14 National Law schools/ Universities. It was setup to simplify the admission process for law programmes. CLAT 2012 will be conducted by National Law University, Jodhpur (NLU, Jodhpur). The cost of the centralised application form is Rs. 3000.
Eligibility: A candidate should have passed Higher Secondary School/ Intermediate Examination (10+2) with not less than 50% marks in aggregate. Upper age limit is 20 years as on July 1 in the respective year.

Test pattern and selection: CLAT paper is of two hours duration containing 200 Multiple Choice Questions from the following sections: English including Comprehension: 40 questions, General Knowledge/Current Affairs: 50 questions, Elementary Mathematics: 20 questions, Legal Aptitude: 50 questions, Logical Reasoning: 40 questions.
Selection will be based on merit list prepared on the basis of overall merit as well as gender, State and reservation.
Law School Admission Tes India (LSAT)
LSAT-India is a standardised test of reading and verbal reasoning skills designed by the USA-based Law School Admission Council (LSAC) to be used by prominent institutions such as IIT Kharagpur – School of Law, Jindal Global Law School and UPES in India for admission to their 5-year Integrated BA LLB, 3-year LLB and LLM programmes. The test will be held in 15 Pearson VUE test centres across India. The registration fee for the LSAT is Rs. 3,500, which can be paid online or through a demand draft.
Eligibility: LSAT India doesn’t have any minimum eligibility but the candidates must check the eligibility requirements of the participating law schools and fill the form accordingly.

Test pattern and selection: A paper-and-pencil test with four sections of 35 minutes duration, all questions are in a multiple-choice format, with four or five answer choices. Two sections contain logical reasoning questions; one section contains analytical reasoning questions; and one section contains reading comprehension questions. The total duration of the test is 2 hours and 35 minutes, including a break of 15 minutes.
Upon declaration of the result the test scores of all students writing the LSAT-India will be transmitted to the participating colleges and the candidates can apply to individual colleges to participate in their respective admission process.
Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET)
Symbiosis Law School, part of Symbiosis University, was established in 1977. It has been approved by Bar Council of India and accredited with Grade A by NAAC.
Symbiosis Law School conducts SET for admission in to its bachelor courses in law, BA LLB & BBA LLB. Candidates must register online for SET and pay the fee of Rs. 1500.
Eligibility: Candidate should have passed Class 12 (10+2) exam from any recognised Board with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC /ST students) in one attempt. You must be not more than 20 years of age as on May 5, 2012.

Test pattern and selection: The entrance test is of 2 hours and consists of 150 objective type questions from the following five sections: Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, General Knowledge and Reading Comprehension (30 questions each). Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the SET score and they will be called for group discussion and personal interview. Final merit list will be drawn on the basis of both.
Aligarh Muslim University (Faculty of Law)
Aligarh Muslim University conducts its own entrance test for the admission of its 5 years undergraduate BA LL.B programme. The duration of course is 10 semesters and have three study centres which has around 220 seats (100+60+60). The application form can be filled by both online and off-line. The cost of application form is Rs. 300.
Eligibility: Candidate should have passed 12th (10+2) examination from any recognized Board with minimum 50% marks of aggregate and the candidate is not more than 22 years of age as on 1st July in the year of admission.

Test pattern and selection: The entrance exam paper is of 2 hours duration. It has one paper of 100 marks consisting of 75 objective type questions (75%weightage) and 10 short answer type questions (25% weightage) on General English, Current Affairs/General Knowledge (with emphasis on legal issues), Reasoning and Aptitude. Admission is based on the basis of merit in qualifying exam.
