AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Exam)

AIEEE, conducted by the CBSE is the most popular engineering entrance exam for BE/ B.Tech aspirants. In 2011 more than 10 lakh students appeared for AIEEE to get admission to the various reputed NIT’s and State-level institutes for around 27,000 seats. The cost of the form for off-line exam is Rs. 800 for General/OBC and Rs 400 for SC/ST & PWD and it can be obtained from the designated branches of Syndicate bank, CBSE Regional Offices or can be filled online.
Eligibility: 10+2 pass or equivalent with 50% marks.

Test pattern and selection: AIEEE is of 3 hours with objective questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each question has four options. Negative marking of 1/4th marks for incorrect answers.
After result, score card indicating All India Rank and State Rank with total marks and marks in each subject shall be sent to the candidates. Candidates scoring above a cut off percentage will be called for counselling.
BVPEEE (Bhartiya Vidyapeeth Engineering Entrance Exam)
A large number of students appear for BVPEEE for admission to B.Tech course (700 seats) in Bhartiya Vidyapeeth University, Pune. The brochure & application form costs Rs. 1,000.
Eligibility: Class 12 pass with Physics, Chemistry and Maths along with English with an aggregate of at least 50% in PCM.

Test pattern and selection: The exam will have 200 objective questions from Maths and Physics with 100 questions from each subject. There is no negative marking and the questions are from class 11th and 12th Syllabus.
The eligible candidates, chosen on the basis of rank in BVPEEE, would be called for counselling for final admission.
BITSAT (Birla Institute Technology and Science Admission Test)
BITSAT is conducted for admission to Birla Institute of Technology and Science for Bachelor’s in Engineering programmes at its Pilani, Hyderabad and Goa campuses. Last year more than 1.5 lakh students appeared for BITSAT for more than 2500 seats in various BITS campuses. Candidates can register for BITSAT by applying online. The completed application form along with the fees of Rs. 1600/- (Rs. 1100/- for female candidates) has to be sent to BITS, Pilani.
Eligibility: 12th pass with at least 75% marks in aggregate in PCM with a minimum of 60% marks in each.
Test pattern and selection: It is a 3-hour online test and has 150 objective questions with each having four options. A correct answer will gets 3 marks and for an incorrect answer 1 mark is deducted. The distribution of 150 questions is as followed: Physics (40), Chemistry(40), English Proficiency (15), Logical Reasoning (10), and Mathematics (45).
Admissions will be made purely on merit. The merit position of the candidates for admission will be based on their score.
COMEDK UGET (Consortium of Medical, Engineerinng and Dental Colleges of Karnataka)
COMEDK UGET is for admission to undergraduate courses (MBBS, BDS, BE, B.Arch) in private medical and engineering colleges in the State of Karnataka. The seat sharing arrangement with the Government of Karnataka has not been declared till yet. The cost of the form depends on the subject combination opted for: Rs 700/- for 3 subjects (PCM or PCB) and Rs 900/- for all 4 subjects (PCMB).
Eligibility: Applicants should have passed the PUC/ Class 12 or equivalent examination.

Test pattern and selection: A single test for 120 minutes combining Physics and Chemistry with a total of 120 questions: 60 questions in Physics and 60 questions in Chemistry. A separate test of 60 minutes for Mathematics and Biology will be held on the same day with each subject having 60 questions. There is no negative marking for this exam.
EAMCET (Engineerinng Agriculture and Medicine Common Entrance Test)
EAMCET is conducted for professional courses like engineering, medical, pharmacy, biotechnology and veterinary in private/government colleges in Andhra Pradesh. It is conducted by the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) on behalf of Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher education (APSCHE). EAMCET application form costs Rs. 250 and may be submitted online or offline.
Eligibility: Candidates should have passed or appeared for the final year of Intermediate examination (10+2) with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from Andhra Pradesh. Students from other States cannot apply.
Application deadline: March 30, 2012 (without late fee).

Test pattern and selection: The test comprises 160 questions on Maths/Zoology/ Botany, Physics and Chemistry. Each section carries 40 marks. Physics and Chemistry sections vary from one category to another. However, syllabus remains the same. There will be objective type questions with 4 choices. The qualifying percentage of marks in the Entrance Test is 25% i.e. 40 out of a total 160.
Goa CET (Goa Common Entrance Test)
A Common Entrance Test is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Goa for degree courses in Engineering in various colleges in Goa. The application form costs Rs. 400.
Eligibility: The candidate must pass 10+2 level of examination of Goa Board of Higher Secondary Examination or its equivalent from a recognized board, with a minimum of 50% marks. Physics and Mathematics should be compulsorily studied: Chemistry/ Bio-Technology/ Computer Science/Biology as optional subjects. The candidate should get through the examination in a single attempt. In case of SC/ST and OBC candidates a minimum of 40% marks is sufficient.
Exam date: May 9, 10, 2012 (Physics-Chemistry and Maths)
Test pattern and selection: The 2-hour test will consist of 75 objective questions. Each question shall have four choices for answers, out of which only one shall be correct. Correct answers carry one mark each. There will be no negative marking for wrong/multiple answers. MHT-CET (Maharashta Common Entrance Test)
MHT-CET (Engineering) is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra for admission to all private, government, aided & unaided engineering universities/ colleges in Maharashtra for undergraduate Engineering courses. The candidates can get admission to Engineering courses of 10 universities and their affiliated colleges. The application form is available for Rs. 700.
Eligibility: A pass in 10+2 or equivalent with English, Physics, Chemistry & Maths with 50% aggregate marks in PCM.

Test pattern and selection: The entrance exam is of 3 hours and consists of two papers of 1 ½ hours each: 1. Physics & Chemistry (50+50 marks), 2. Mathematics (100 marks). Orissa JEE (Odisha Joint Entrance Examination)
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Orissa is conducted for admission to BArch, MBBS, BPharm, B.Tech, and BHMCT courses. It is also organized for the lateral entry of students to the third semester of various degree courses like BPharm, B.Tech and BHMCT. The application form costs Rs. 550.
Eligibility: Passed or appearing in 2012, 10+2 examination of CHSE, Odisha or equivalent with Physics and Maths as compulsory subjects along with one of the subjects from Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Electronics/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Geology/ Statistics.
The candidate should have passed individual subject and obtained at least 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ ST candidates) in the above subjects taken together.

Test pattern and selection: Odisha JEE will have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. There will be multiple choice type questions. The number of questions will be 60 per each hour of examination. UPSEE (Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination)
Mahamaya Technical University, Noida, is conducting Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPSEE) for admission to degree courses in B.Tech, B.Tech (Agri Engg)/ B.Pharm/ B.Arch/ Hotel Management (BHMCT)/ Fashion and Apparel Design Technology (BFAD) of government aided and private unaided institutions affiliated to Gautam Budh Technical University, Lucknow and Mahamaya Technical University, Noida, along with some of the other state universities.
Eligibility: 12th pass with Physics and Maths and any one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science or Biology.

Test pattern and selection: There will be 2 papers for B.Tech entrance: Paper 1: Physics & Chemistry-150 minutes & 75 questions each from Physics & Chemistry and paper 2: Mathematics-90 minutes & 90 questions. A final merit list for counselling is prepared based on the result of the examination and candidates are called in batches for centralized counselling.
WB-JEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination,JEM-2012)
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination is conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board WBJEE for admission to various professional courses in various fields of Engineering/Architecture/Technology/ Medical/ Dental and Pharmacy in various Universities/Colleges in West Bengal. A large number of candidates from across West Bengal appear for WBJEE every year for admission to these courses.
Eligibility: A minimum 60% percentage of marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together in (10+2) level with at least 50% marks in English either in 10th or in 12th standard with an individual pass marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and vernacular (or any other fifth subject) for all category of candidates.

Test pattern and selection: The question paper consists of multiple Choice type Questions (MCQ) and short answer type questions. 80% marks is allotted to MCQ (four options including single correct answer) and 20% marks will be allotted to short answer type questions. For each incorrect response 33.33% of mark is deducted. Selection for Engineering and Technology will be based on the WBJEE merit/option/with regard to preferences for colleges/universities/institutions and branches.
