WE considered the last three years’ rankings done by Outlook (perception-based) and Dataquest (a mix of objective data and perception). The colleges that appeared only once in a purely perception survey were ignored. So, of the universe of 215 colleges, about 200+ colleges were identified and we normalised their rankings to arrive at a composite ranking.

Sorting the rankings from the highest to the lowest we identified natural gaps and accordingly clustered them. Clusters have been classified as ‘AAA’ to ‘A’ since these colleges collectively represent the Top 10% of the universe (3,100+engineering colleges). Within the clusters the colleges have been sorted on the basis of their location (Andhra first and West Bengal last).
