If i get 150 in mains then i can make it to NIT if i m obc?
Next year’s JEE Mains Pattern is still unclear. But most Probably the pattern would remains same ,but JEE Mains Ranks will be solely based on marks obtained in JEE Mains Paper 1 for engineering (i.e B.Tech).
So the cutoff and other related stuffs are likely to be same as previous AIEEE.
So a rank under 10–15k can fetch you a top NITs. Accordingly your score in JEE Mains Paper 1 should be more than 180+ (200+ to be on the safer side) atleast. For lower ranked NITs 150+ must do the job.
And also your rank depends upon difficulty level of that year’s paper and since the the merit list determining cretria has changed nothing can be said accurately.
Target for top NITs like NIT-K,W,T
This question is quite tricky now as new pattern would be taken into account. So the board percentage would have no weight age for the rankings.
To get into descent NITs from other state quota you should have a rank of around 6–8k which is possible if you score around 180 marks. For the top NITs, your score should be somewhere around 240 something.
Well these marks don't change if you belong to OBC category. Most you could subtract 10–15 marks from what is required by general category students. OBC candidates have only one benefit that they might get a higher branch in the same college but getting a better college is not guaranteed. For example, if you get NIT Raipur Metallurgy Brach by general rankings, then your caste might help get CSE in the same college but if you get CSE in general category than it might be difficult to get inside NIT Bhopal or other better NITs.
Hello Aniket Gupta. Thanks for contacting Careers360 and we hope we will be able to answer your query.
Your question is actually very broad. Why because is we do not know as to which NIT you are aiming for. This information will help us to give a definite answer.
Anyways, I enclose for your information, this Careers360 article regarding the JEE Mains cutoff for all NITs:

Hope this helps you and all the best!
But the problem is you may not expect top college seats....
If you need a seat in top NITs...you need to work harder....
Study well ...perform well...
All the best!@
Chances should be there in lower NITs with this score so you advised to work little more harder to get 200 or above so that you can get seat in decent NITs.
