ABSMIDS Mangalore: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore was founded in 1985. The college is affiliated to Okayama University Dental School, Japan. ABSMIDS Mangalore is recognised by the Dental Council of India and also by the Malaysian Dental Council. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and fellowship programmes at its campus. BDS is the undergraduate course offered by the college. At the postgraduate level, ABSMIDS Mangalore offers MDS programmes in eight specialisations. The candidate seeking ABSMIDS Mangalore admission in undergraduate courses must take the NEET exam and participate in online counselling. Candidates who want to enrol in postgraduate courses must qualify NEET-MDS examination.

ABSMIDS Mangalore Courses

The college provides undergraduate, postgraduate and fellowship courses. The only UG course offered by the ABSMIDS Mangalore is BDS with a duration of 5 years. ABSMIDS Mangalore PG programme is available in MDS degree specialisations like Pediatric Dentistry and Periodontics, Oral Pathology and Microbiology, Oral Medicine and Radiology and many more. Two fellowship programmes are also available at the AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore.

ABSMIDS Mangalore Admissions

The college admits students to the undergraduate BDS programme on the basis of the NEET-UG score and All India Rank of the candidate. The candidate must fill in ABSMIDS Mangalore as their college of preference in the online counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee. Candidates seeking admission to the MDS programme must qualify for the NEET-MDS examination.

ABSMIDS Mangalore Cut-off

Securing admission to the UG courses requires the candidate to score at or above the NEET cutoff. For the ABSMIDS Mangalore PG courses, the students must obtain the relevant scores in the NEET-MDS. The cutoff is different for various courses. According to the statistics in 2021 for candidates belonging to the general category, the closing rank for the BDS course was 907423.

The college also offers a comprehensive training programme to students to succeed in many rounds of interviews. The college is situated at Medical Sciences Complex, Deralakatte in the Mangalore district of Karnataka. ABSMIDS Mangalore is well-connected and feasible to reach by railways, roadways and airways. The nearest means of transport to the college is Central Railway Junction in Mangalore which is located at a distance of only 12 kms. Mangalore International Airport is the nearest airport to the college at a distance of 23 km. Also, Mangalore’s main bus terminal is situated just 15 km from the college.
