Government Engineering College Thrissur offers undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D programmes. GEC Thrissur courses are offered in full-time mode. The college offers a total of 32 courses. Government Engineering College Thrissur courses are offered in the fields of engineering, architecture, computer applications, etc. The UG courses offered by the college are B.Tech and B.Arch. GEC Thrissur PG courses are M.Tech, M.C.A. and M.Planning. For admission to the courses, candidates have to meet the eligibility criteria first. The general eligibility criteria of GEC Thrissur UG courses are a minimum of 50% marks in 10+2 in the relevant streams. For PG courses, candidates should have passed a bachelor’s degree in the relevant streams with minimum aggregate marks, wherever applicable. Candidates should have passed master’s degree with minimum 6.5 CGPA with GATE score for Ph.D in Engineering or should have qualified CSIR UGC NET with minimum 6.5 CGPA for Ph.D in Mathematics. The central library has more than 60,000 books and journals .Besides the central library each department has their own libraries that help the students to access books of a particular domain.The Central Computing Facility(CCF) is a centralized computer center for students and staff.The CCF is equiped with over 200 desktops and 1Gbps NKN Internet connectivity.Co-operative society ,Canteen facilities are also available in the college.Post Office & Bank, Dispensary are also situated in the campus.
The college provides great infrastructural facilities.It includes labs,workshops with great machines.The college also has gym facilities which is greatly used and well maintained.There is also a nice football ground and a hockey ground.

There are four buses including one donated by the college PTA, according to GECT, and a jeep is on service to reduce the transport problems of students and staff of this institution.
