IMA or International Maritime Academy Chennai is a pioneer maritime institute in the state of Tamil Nadu. IMA is approved by the DGS Ministry of Shipping, Government of India. Graded as Outstanding Institution with grade 1 by SMERA, IMA is accredited by the International Accreditation Organization (IAO), Houston, USA. The institution has obtained provisional accreditation by Royal Institution of Naval Architects, UK. IMA is affiliated to Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar. 

IMA Chennai offers undergraduate and diploma courses in the field of Naval Architecture, Shipping Management, Port, Nautical Science, Marine Engineering and many others. The programmes offered by IMA Chennai are BE Marine Engineering, Diploma in Nautical Science, B.Sc Nautical Science and many more. Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria before applying for any course at IMA.
