JD Birla Institute is a private college which was established in 1962. JDBI Kolkata is affiliated to Jadavpur University. The college was named as Smt. Jawahari Devi Birla Institute of Home Science but the name of the institute was later changed to JD Birla Institute. The institute added a department of commerce in 2007 and then, later another campus was started to support the department of Management in 2002. The institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in various disciplines such as B.Com(Hons), B.Sc (Hons), M.Com, M.Sc, B.B.A, P.G.D etc.

JD Birla is located in Ballygunge, Kolkata. The nearest metro station to the institute is the Netaji Metro station. Students can reach the institute campus by covering a walking distance. Students who are reaching the institute campus bus, can get down at Birla Planetarium Bus Stand and take a walk from there to the campus or hire an auto.

Sports Club- The Sports Club has been formed to encourage the sports culture inside the institute. Members of this club are interested to develop their skills in different types of sports including outdoor and indoor sports like football, cricket, badminton, tennis, table tennis, carom, chess etc. Students have also participated in different competitions inside and outside JD Birla Institute.
Nature Club- The Nature Club of J D Birla Institute Kolkata aims to spread the importance of environmental awareness among students. Members of this club indulge themselves in various environmental programmes and events to spread the culture of cleanliness and other environmental factors.
Open Debate Forum- Open Debate Forum comprises of members who have an interest in debating. Students of JDBI Kolkata are encouraged to join this club to improve their debating skills and also participate in different events to showcase their talents.

JD Birla Institute provides various facilities and amenities to students and faculty which include hostel, classrooms, demo rooms, common rooms, labs, library, health care, skill lab, computer lab, auditorium, hostel, cafeteria, outdoor and indoor stadium, recreation facilities etc. Detailed description on the facilities provided is mentioned below.
Classroom- The classrooms of JDBI Kolkata are spacious and sound-proof provided with AC and LCD projectors to provide students with classes in a better learning environment.
Computer Lab- The computer lab is allowed to be used by students and staff which is provided with LAN connectivity and internet access for 24 hrs.
Sports- A badminton playground and other indoor game facilities like carom and chess are also provided inside the campus of JD Birla Institute Kolkata.
Canteen- The canteen inside the institute serves quality and hygienic vegetarian food to students at affordable rates.
Health care- There is a health care centre inside the campus of JD Birla Institute which is well equipped with all the necessary first aid, medical equipment and a trained and qualified nurse.
CCTV surveillance- CCTV cameras are installed inside the institute to ensure the security and safety of staff and students.
Learning Resource Centre- LRC is a fully automated centre which is provided by J D Birla Institute Kolkata well equipped with a huge collection of 18,085 books, 37 journals and periodicals, magazines and newspapers regarding applied sciences, commerce and books of general interest. The timings of LRC are from 8.00 am to 5.30 pm from Monday- Friday and 8.00 am to 1.00 pm on Saturdays.
Psychological counselling- This service is provided inside JDBI Kolkata campus five times a week by conducting sessions by a trained counsellor who guides students in distress and provides any kind of help to students for dealing with stress. All the sessions are conducted in a confidential manner.
I don't know that yet as due to pandemic the college has not yet opened. But online everything is well maintained. They even bought the licensed version of zoom so that we wouldn't be disturbed in between.
The college has a good infrastructure and even better after the renovation done this year. Yes the college has all the necessary facilities and equipments. The classroom are well maintained. And the campus is also very clean and maintained.
