JGEC Courses

The courses offered by the college are B.Tech and M.Tech. JGEC courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). For admission to the courses, candidates first have to meet the eligibility criteria. Minimum 45% marks in 10+2 in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science/Biotechnology/Computer Application is required for the Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, Jalpaiguri UG course. JGEC Admissions

JGEC admissions are offered at the undergraduate and postgraduate level programmes. For the B.Tech programme admission, candidates have to appear for WBJEE and have to meet the cutoff, whereas, for the M.Tech programme admission, the college accepts scores of WB PGET or GATE. However, preference is given to candidates with a valid GATE score. Further, qualified candidates have to appear for WBJEE counselling for B.Tech and WB PGET counselling for the M.Tech programme admission. Some of the scholarship schemes are discussed in detail below.

1. Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship- Minimum 60% aggregate marks in the last qualifying examination for UG level candidates and a minimum 53% aggregate marks in graduation honours subject for the PG level candidates is required to avail the scholarship. Candidates’ annual family income should also be less than Rs. 2.5 LPA. Under this scheme, Rs. 1,500 per month for UG programme, and Rs. 2,500 per month for PG programme is awarded.

2. Backward Classes Welfare Department and Tribal Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal: Online Application for Scholarship in Studies (OASIS)- For SC/ST Students- Under this scheme, Rs. 550 per month for day scholars and Rs. 1,200 per month for hostellers are awarded to the SC/ST category students, whose annual family income is up to Rs. 2.5 LPA.
