JNGEC Sundernagar was established in 2006 by the Government of Himachal Pradesh. The college is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HIMTU) Hamirpur. Cultural Committee- The committee conducts various cultural events throughout the year.
Sports Committee- Students are encouraged to participate in tournaments and competitions organised by the committee on and off campus.

Library, sports, wi-fi, IT infrastructure, laboratories, etc are the facilities provided by the college. Jawaharlal Nehru Government Engineering College facilities are available for students, college staff and faculty members. There is a central library at the college. For admission to the JNGEC Sundernagar courses, candidates first have to meet the eligibility criteria. Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria have to further appear for the entrance test, JEE Main or HPCET for B.Tech and HPCET M.Tech or GATE for M.Tech. Jawaharlal Nehru Government Engineering College admissions are offered at various undergraduate and postgraduate level programmes. The college accepts scores of HPCET and HPCET M.Tech for the B.Tech and M.Tech programme admission respectively. As per the JNGEC Sundernagar admission process, seats are allotted to the qualified candidates during the HPCET counselling. However, in the case of B.Tech programmes, 50% seats are allotted through the scores or ranks obtained by the candidates in JEE Main. SJVN Silver Jubilee Merit Scholarship Scheme- To avail the scholarship students should have passed 10+2 from a school situated in HP. They should also have minimum 60% marks (general category) and minimum 50% marks (BPL category) in 10+2. Under this scheme, Rs. 2,000 per month is awarded.
Smt. Shyam Lata Garg Scholarships- The scholarship is awarded to the students who have scored minimum 7.5 CGPA and minimum 85% marks in 10+2 with annual family income up to Rs. 6 lakhs. Rs. 50,000 per annum is the scholarship amount awarded under this scheme.
The training and placement cell of the college helps in the placement of the final-year students. Placement training is also provided by the JNGEC Sundernagar placement cell to make the students ready for placement. For placement of the candidates recruiters are invited on the campus. Our college has a beautiful building with mostly facilities provided inside the college for students. Recently the hostel facilities has also started here at our time there were no such facility as hostels were under construction. Classrooms are very good and have projectors. Labs are also fully equipped and instructors are also there for guiding students.
Clg infrastructure is very good and the machine ,labs auditorium , and hostels facilities is available for all students . exposure for engineering students and even pg course is also there in mechanical and civil engineering
JNGEC has a growing infrastructure with so many improvements every year . Our college has a huge library with three different floors and each floor has different facility. Sports facilities are lacked of a ground other wise sports equipments are provided by the college for the students. Projectors are there in each classrooms. Everything is well maintained here .
