Posted on 11 Mar' 18 by Pranav Ahuja
Batch of 2019 | B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering
Placements : The placements of our college are good. Our college has a good coding culture. The highest salary offered for our branch was 10 Lacs. The minimum salary offered was 3.4 LPA. Nearly 88% of the students get placed in our college. Many big companies like Amazon , Deloitte visit the campus every year. Curriculum: Our college has a very good curriculum. Courses which are up to date are taught to us. A student has to choose electives based on his interest. Infrastructure : The facilities of our college are quite good. The labs are quite efficient with the modern equipment. Our library is known as a Learning Resource Centre. It has numerous books and capacity of almost 1500 students. Our college has good sports and games place. The best part of our college is food mess that is Annapurna. The quality is very good. Faculty : The teachers are quite qualified who teaches are well qualified and are all PhD holders and have experience in the study. The student to teacher ratio is 25:1. Our teachers are helpful and quite knowledgeable. Other : Our technical fest is 'Converge' which is held anually. Jaypee Youth Club(JYC) is the student body of the JIIT Noida. JYC has different societies like drama, dance, music, technical, robotics, literary and some more. These societies helps the students to enjoy their college life to the fullest because scoring high in only academics is not the only thing.

Good college to study engineering!

JIIT Noida is a good college to study engineering from. The college has good infrastructure with a continuous long building at the front and a big ground at the back, along with a separate football field attached to the main campus. The institute offers multiple labs with up-to-date equipment and dedicated, professionally qualified lab assistants for each lab, in the fields of computer science, electronics and physics. Since JIIT is a deemed university, they design their own syllabus and that is a thing I feel which can be improved upon. While the institute does lay emphasis on varied education with good exposure to multiple fields of technology, irrespective of whichever field of engineering you choose, I feel that the syllabus for Computer Science should be updated to include modern technologies and more exposure should be given to industrial technologies as compared to legacy systems. The faculty at JIIT is kind of a hit and miss. There are some teachers who teach really well inspite of being less qualified whereas there are other teachers who have decades of experience but are still not good "teachers" per se. There are some other minor peculiar rules in the college which never made sense to me, but nothing that will be a big issue. Overall, it's a good college where you will make and cherish great memories for a lifetime, alongwith a solid background in engineering and sound technical knowledge.

Starting with the environment, the environment of the campus is very friendly, almost gives like a school like feeling, ragging is strictly prohibited in the campus and in hostel. The hostels unlike sector 62 campus are not very well developed, and also it is situated outside the campus with Jaypee Office(10 minute walk). Hostels in sector 128 campus are currently unavailable for girls and 1st year students for security reasons. You can take a hostel at sector 62 campus and travel by college bus (approx 30 minutes). Coming to the infrastructure of the campus, AC is present in all classes, tutorial rooms and labs. The college is not that big as compared to that of 62 branch but this is not the biggest problem with the campus. The biggest problem is that the college is present inside the Jaypee wish town, due to which autos, food corners are not available near the college campus. The faculty is good, considerate and even though college students are not that interested in studying they are always ready to extend help outside the class too if you have doubts. But yeah they make examination paper tough and almost no theory can be seen in the paper if you compare it with UPTU papers. Converge is the annual fest organized by the student bodies within the college for 2-3 days which has dance, coding, music, quizzes, sports, DJ night, performance by celebrities and food stalls etc. Also there is a great atmosphere for competitive coding in the college with students participating actively in coding websites like Codechef, Hackerrank etc. There are 2-3 coding contests also held by the programming hub each semester to test your mettle. Talking about the main plus point of the college specially in the north region is it’s placement. Though the IT sector is facing shortage of jobs and major cuts, the college has a better placement records than the private colleges in the north (yeah of course it’s better than UPTU). Many students face a dilemma whether they must choose JIIT ,sector 128 or not if they are unable to get into sector 62. So the main difference is infrastructure, hostel and faculty. The rest is same as even the same exam paper comes in both sector 62 and 128 and the placement session is conducted for all students at the same time together in sector 62 campus only.

Awesome Faculty

The faculty of the college has changed in recent years. However, the new faculty members are knowledgeable and qualified. The faculty doesn't help you a lot and wants to sail and find the way independently. Different faculty members have different teaching methods and it also depends on the subject. The theoretical subjects are taught with the help of powerpoint presentations and the questions are discussed later on in tutorial classes. The practical subjects like physics and algorithms are taught with the help of powerpoint presentations, along with traditional whiteboard teaching and videos are also shown. Mathematics is taught in the most traditional way. Students are required to implement their learning in lab sessions so that conceptual clarity is achieved.

Nice Placement

Batch of 2019 | B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering
The placement scenario for this batch was very nice and up to the mark as compared to the current market and placement scenarios of other colleges. Amazon offered the highest package of approximately 18 lakhs and mass-recruiters paid the least of some 3 lakhs. Many companies visited the campus, with big techno shots like Amazon, Kuliza to management companies like EY and Deloitte.
