KMV Jalandhar Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

KMV boarding house, 'Kanya Ashram', as it was popularly called, is situated within the precincts of the college. The hostel building consists of four hostel wings- Savitri Bhawan, Rai Bahadur Badri Das Hostel, Saraswati Bhawan and New Hostel. Located in a lush green and eco-friendly surroundings, the hostel has a provision of accommodation for about 800 girl students.

Health & wellness of students is one of the primary concerns of the college authorities. To ensure this, the institution provides the facility of a health care center on the campus to provide medical care as well as first aid to the students in need.

The gymnasium in the college is another facility provided to the students who can train themselves in various games and exercises to remain mentally and physically fit. It is built according to the standard dimensions (120 ft X 100 ft; 37 ft high). The gallery can accommodate 300 spectators. Provisions have been made for a variety of games like Table Tennis, Badminton, Volley Ball, Hand Ball, Wrestling, Judo and Weight Lifting etc.

Fully computerized with Internet connectivity, 'Balbir Raj Sondhi Memorial Library' is an impressive three-storeyed building. Well-stocked with over 65,000 books on its shelves, the college library subscribes to 111 journals and periodicals of national and international repute, 18 newspapers and 43 popular magazines of general as well as specific interest. Separate reading zones cater to the scholastic needs of the faculty, postgraduate, undergraduate, Arts, Science and Commerce students exclusively.

A balanced attitude in both victory and defeat can be acquired only through sports. KMV provides umpteen opportunities to unleash the latent reserves of energy of our youth through various sports events. The college has a full-fledged department of Physical Education that imparts vigorous training to the students for participation in a variety of games such as Basket Ball, Volleyball, Soft Ball, Base Ball, Badminton, Kho-Kho, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Chess , Shooting, Korf Ball, Net Ball, Ball Badminton, Squash Racket and Hand Ball.

Veer Astha Bhavan with its Avante-Garde structure aims at inculcating constructive aptitude and innovative spirit in the students. Ten centrally air-conditioned fully networked hi-tech computer labs with 24-hour internet connectivity.

Keeping in mind "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy", KMV provides its students ample opportunities not only for labour but pleasure as well. In the spacious and well laid-out 'Springs: Student Centre" located just behind the administrative block, students, in their free periods, can relax and chatter and engage in any creative activities after their hearts' choice, while gulping down the mouth-watering delicacies being cooked in the adjacent canteen.

The college has 2 well-equipped multipurpose halls: Hi-tech, centrally airconditioned Auditorium for intellectual and co-curricular events and a centrally air-conditioned, echo-proof Seminar Hall with a seating capacity of 75. In addition, there is a Dev Raj Hall where smaller groups can meet for cultural evenings and competitions.

The college has the transport facility for students and staff.

All the departments are provided with modern labs fitted with the latest equipment and well-furnished lecture theatres. The Department of Physics and Electronics can boast of seven, FIST sponsored, ultra-modern labs of the postgraduate level, a nuclear lab, two research labs fitted with Photoluminescent Spectrophotometer and a hi-tech dark room. The Botanical Garden with rare and ancient plants, a greenhouse and a pond with hydrophytes is a unique feature of the Botany Department. The special attraction of the Zoology Department is its museum with ancient evolutionary species. Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics possess state-of-the-art Recombinant DNA, Plant Tissue Culture, Animal Tissue Culture labs fitted with hi-tech Computer providing the latest software and Internet facilities to the students.
