The college was established in 1949 under the guidance of Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios. Mar Ivanios College is accredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC.  In the NIRF college rankings of 2021, the college has been ranked 44th. Initially, the college was affiliated to the University of Travancore and is currently affiliated to the University of Kerala Thiruvananthapuram since 1957. Mar Ivanios College has received the status of CPE (College with Potential for Excellence) from the UGC. Mar Ivanios College is an autonomous institution conferred by the University of Kerala. The college is known for its innovation and social commitment through teaching-learning, research, co-curricular and outreach processes. The mission and vision of the college is to achieve academic excellence through its innovative teaching and learning methods.

The institute offers undergraduate courses in B.Com, B.Sc., and B.A. and postgraduate courses in M.Sc., M.A., M.Com and M.T.T.M. All the courses are affiliated to Kerala University. Mar Ivanios College Facilities 

There are ample facilities in the college. Some of them are  library, hostel, chapel and prayer hall, central instrumentation facility, waste management facility, facility for differently-abled, etc to the students. The library is spread over 10423.84 Sq.ft and is very spacious. There is a lounge area, e- learning, reprographic services, relaxed reading, book shelving and staff area. There are over 69000+ books on different genres like general, scientific, fiction, etc and 3 lakhs E-Books, E- Journals, accessible from anywhere, anytime. Mar Ivanios College facilities have a beautiful chapel and prayer hall. The chapel and prayer hall provides an aura of peace and serenity. Staff and students, particularly Catholics normally visit the chapel and is open to any member of the college.
Three hostels with a capacity of accommodation of 150 boys and 500 girls are there in the college. All are strictly security-enabled ensuring the protection and safety of students. There is also an animal house to boost training and research. Mar Ivanios College is registered with the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA) under the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Animal Welfare Division of Government of India.  The college has a central instrumentation facility established in 2007 for research purposes to benefit the students and faculty members.

The college practices waste management and rainwater harvesting. Facilities for the same have been instituted in the campus. Wastes collected are sent for processing and pig farms. Mar Ivanios College facilities can be availed by the  differently-abled students too. The college provides facilities like ramps, wheel chairs, scribes, counselling and orientation programmes.

Students who have passed 10+2 or graduation are eligible to apply. Students aspiring to pursue B.Com (Accounts and Audit) and M.T.T.M need to take the entrance exam, conducted by the college. Mar Ivanios College Scholarships

Scholarships are offered to the students with the aim of helping the financially disadvantaged students. Mar Ivanios College scholarships are offered to the needy candidates. Students aspiring to avail the scholarships have to apply for the national government scholarships and scholarships offered by the UGC. Those candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will get the scholarship amount.

1. PG Scholarship for University Rank Holders (1st and 2nd rank holders)- Candidates who are 1st and 2nd rank holders at UG level and pursuing full time postgraduate courses are eligible to get this scholarship. Candidates should have minimum 60% marks at UG level. The age should not exceed 30 years. Rs 3,100 per month is the scholarship amount awarded under this scheme.

2. PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child- The girl student should be upto the age of 30 years and should be pursuing full time 1st year PG programme. The scholarship amount awarded is Rs 36,200 per annum.

3. Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students- This scholarship is awarded by the Department of Higher Education, Central Government. Those candidates who have above 80% marks in 10+2 and pursuing a regular course and whose family income is Rs 8 lakhs are awarded this scholarship. Rs 10,000 per annum at graduation level and Rs 20,000 per annum at postgraduate level are awarded to the students.

4. Post Matric Scholarship for Minorities- To avail this scholarship, candidates should have obtained minimum 50% marks in the previous final examination with annual family income up to Rs 2 lakhs. Rs 3,000 per annum at UG and PG level is awarded.

Mar Ivanios College Placements

The placement cell of the college helps the students in their placement. They conducts various pre-placement training for the students. Mar Ivanios placement training involves workshops, guest lectures, seminars, group discussions and mock interviews. The college placement is conducted every year. Several companies are invited to the campus for placement.
