This course is a two-year comprehensive, holistic industry-oriented pathway that trains the students to develop as professionals and entrepreneurs in the field of marketing and/or merchandising by providing extensive knowledge and technical, behavioral skills in the core functional areas of Merchandising, Marketing, Branding, Integrated Marketing Communications, Product Development, Sourcing, Buying and Range Planning. Pearl Academy trains students to be professionals who have the capacity to conceptually and critically think and analyze complex problems to propose intelligent and compatible solutions in the domain of fashion and lifestyle business.
At the start the course engages the student to understand the overview of global fashion and lifestyle industry. It has been designed such that it encompasses the gamut of fashion value chain-raw materials to retailing and basic marketing principles. It also provides knowledge and understanding of the elements and principles of fashion design, communication channels, terminology and fabric qualities and their applications in fashion products. It will help them acquire and develop an understanding of design and market perspective on all levels of the Fashion Merchandising & Production. The course also emphasis on Design Thinking, which aims to develop in students an appreciation and understanding of what design contributes to business.
Later semester will focus on building high level of fashion business competencies and skills such as problem solving along with efficient communication in the students. The students will be prepared for outside world by sharpening their knowledge and skills for Retailing, Marketing, Digital Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Buying and Merchandising to prepare for the live-Industry projects. Research tools and techniques suitable to the specialism will be used to interpret the reality of the fashion business world. The students will get an opportunity to undertake an overseas exchange or an Internship or a live project with a fashion and lifestyle brand.
The course will run on a blended model with face to face and online interaction where the LMS will host the content by reflective blogs as well as discussions.
The curriculum has been developed in association with Domus Academy. All PG Pathways at Pearl have an in-built 4-week exchange module (optional) at Domus Academy. This alliance gives following opportunities to students:-

Attend workshops, visit local factories/manufacturing units/Buying House/Sourcing agency/ Luxury Boutiques/Concept Stores and interact with the industry experts of international market.
Domus Academy faculty members regularly visit Pearl Academy to instill fresh learning in the students. Apart from international expertise, these experts bring immense cultural knowledge with them.
Through such exchanges programmes, Pearl ensures that the students learn not only the technical aspects of the domain but also a new culture. In 2016, over 80 students were a part of the exchange program to Domus Academy, Milan, Italy. These students were from all 3 centers and across various PG courses like Fashion Business, Fashion Design, Interior Design & Styling, Luxury Brands, Fashion Communication, Communication Design and Fashion Styling & Image Design.
This programme is not subjected to approval by any Government of India regulatory bodies like UGC, AICTE etc.
