Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Technology, Pondicherry has an active training and placement cell. RGCET placement cell trains students for employability skills through aptitude tests, group discussions, mock interviews, and communication skills thereby allowing them to confidently face campus interviews. The role of the RGCET placement cell is to mould students through rigorous training to make them placement ready so that they get placed in MNCs. By inviting eminent persons and educators from various industries, the RGCET placement cell organises numerous workshops that highlight the paths and prospects for students. RGCET placement cell is also in charge of maintaining industry-institutional relationships and has contacted and brought many companies to campus for recruitment. Apart from educating and developing students, the cell organises FDP (Faculty Development Programmes) to equip faculty members with the newest trends and improve their abilities in creative teaching approaches. The other RGCET placement activities of the cell include industrial visits and In-plant training.
According to the RGCET placement report (data taken from NIRF report) for UG courses 2020-21, out of 363 eligible students for RGCET placements, 184 students were placed with a median salary of Rs.2,88,666 and 6 students opted for higher studies. As per the RGCET placement report (from NIRF report) for PG courses 2020-21, out of 74 eligible students for placements, 21 students were placed with a median salary of Rs.2,56,000. Some of the companies in which the students have undergone in-plant training are ISRO, BSNL, Lenevo, Indian Railways, Bharat Electronic etc.
