Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Kottayam has a training and placement cell to organise the placement procedure for the students. Students are also provided training programmes on personality development and communication skills and help them prepare better for the recruitment process. The Institute also makes sure that they can help most of the students getting placed into various companies by helping them in every possible way. RTI Kottayam also conducts mock tests and practice session classes on Aptitude, Quantitative Ability, Logical and Reasoning to make students practice and get better before appearing for the final Interview and Written test. The Training and Placement Cell of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Kottayam sends invitations to recruiting companies for the campus recruitment.
The Training and Placement Cell then fixes the dates with various recruiters based on the salary packages and other eligibility criteria offered by the recruitment companies.
Interested students of RTI Kottayam have to register their names and share their respective resumes with the placement cell.
Students of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Kottayam are given pre-placement talks by different recruiting companies to make them aware about the policies, roles and job profiles offered by them.
Eligible candidates also have to appear and qualify the written test, group discussion and interview round.
The written test consists of multiple choice questions related to Quantitative aptitude, Logical and Reasoning ability, English competency etc to test the skills and basic knowledge of students.
After clearing the written test, students have to qualify the group discussion round where they have to speak on topics decided by the recruiters to judge the communication and speaking skills of students
After clearing the GD round, students also have to clear various rounds of Interview namely Technical Interview and HR Interview which is conducted to test the communication and management skills of students.
Based on the performance of students in the written test, GD round and interview students will be offered placements in different companies with varying salary packages.

Based on the qualifying scores, students have to apply for admissions online. Application forms have to be submitted along with requisite documents and fees payment on the official website of RIT Kottayam. Admissions will be offered based on GATE scores, seat allotment, document verification and fees payment.
RIT has two ladies hostels and one men's hostel with an intake of 280 and 107, respectively. Apart from this, RIT runs a separate P.G. hostel on campus.
