The Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) in Thiruvananthapuram was established in 1981 and is affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur. RCC is known worldwide for its modern facilities to diagnose, treat, ease pain, and help recover from cancer. RCC offers admission to various specialised, PG courses like, MD, DM, Post Basic Diploma in various branches of Radiotherapy, Anaesthesiology, Pathology, Surgical Oncology, Head & Neck Surgery, and more.
The centre also conducts a lot of research on different kinds of cancers. This special cancer hospital and research centre is owned by the state and is one of the six centres established in India as part of the 'National Cancer Control Programme' by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
RCC has another location in Pulayanarkotta, Thiruvananthapuram, and also has outreach centres in Palakkad, Ernakulam, and Kollam districts. Not just this, RCC keeps track of cancer cases in hospitals and communities. They have a record of cancer patients in hospitals, and they also keep track of cancer cases in the general population in areas like Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Kottayam districts.
