B.Sc. (Applied Mathematical Computing) is a three year programme. It covers diverse areas like Financial Mathematics, Mathematical Biology, Machine Learning and Deep learning. the course offered at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.

Mathematics and its applications are quickly becoming indispensable in our modern technological world. Advancement in fields of applications has prompted the use of computational techniques unique to particular entities. The discipline of Applied Mathematics, using computational approaches responds to the demands of conceptual analysis, principles, and problem solving for a new world filled with more advanced tools of computing and technology.

In the Applied Mathematical Computing programme, students are trained in one, exploring problems using symbolic, graphical, numerical, physical, and verbal techniques. Two, engage in precise mathematical thinking and modelling to examine and solve problems. And finally, data analysis with the help of algorithms from machine and deep learning. Students can use these skills in the context of finite or discrete real-world situations in disciplines including, but not limited to, economics, medicine, agriculture, marine science, law, transportation, engineering, banking, natural sciences, social sciences, and computing.

The main emphasis of this programme is on developing the ability of the students to start with a problem in non-mathematical form and transform it into mathematical language. This will enable them to bring mathematical insights and skills in devising a solution, and then interpreting this solution in real-world terms.  The technological skills that students develop would prove vital to them, as they present and analyze data for a research component. The Bachelor of science in Applied Mathematical Computing at NMIMS concentrates on areas where Mathematical Sciences, Computing and Finance are most relevant, emphasizing the bridges between theory and applications. It offers opportunities to develop a deeper understanding of the mathematical foundations of the subject and its applications, positioning students to be highly competitive for job opportunities including analyzing and managing corporate data in different formats, as well as in academic teaching and research.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Candidate must have passed 10 + 2 or equivalent examination from recognized board with Mathematics/ Mathematics & Statistics as compulsory subject with minimum 50% aggregate marks in any stream (Science/Commerce/Arts with Mathematics/ Mathematics & Statistics).
  • A candidate who has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from IB Board should be either IB certificate or DP awarded with 24 credits compulsory, having passed 3 HL & 3 SL mandatorily from any stream.
  • Candidates of CBSE, ICSE, should mention in the online registration / e-admission form (if selected) 10th/10+2 or equivalent aggregate marks of all the subjects for which the candidate has taken & appeared for (not best of four, five, six or seven). The candidate shall have passed all the subjects taken & appeared for in the applicable examination/s. The aggregate percentage of all subjects for which the candidate has taken & appeared will be taken into consideration for confirming eligibility of the candidate for the program at the time of admission.
  • In case the mark sheet issued by the applicable Board / Institution is in percentile/s, the actual aggregate percentage of all the subjects appeared by the candidate will be taken into consideration.
  • Candidates above 25 years of age are not eligible to apply
  • For IB & Cambridge Candidate: Candidates called for admission counseling on the basis of merit list & who do not have final mark sheet will be given “Provisional Admission” based on predicted scores. Fees will be accepted from such candidates but their admission will be confirmed on submission of final mark sheet before the commencement of the program if found eligible. Mark sheet/Transcripts issued by Board/University shall only be considered (School/Institute will not be accepted).)
  •  Submission of AIU equivalence certificate to confirm the eligibility for the program is mandatory for those candidates who have completed their (10+2) or equivalent examination from overseas board/Universities.
