SLS Nagpur: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Symbiosis Law School (SLS) Nagpur was established in 2019. SLS Nagpur is a constituent of Symbiosis International University Pune, which is Grade A++ accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and recognized by UGC. The institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses for admission in BA LLB, BBA LLB and LLM. Students aspiring to take admission in these courses have to first meet the SLS course eligibility criteria. After meeting the eligibility criteria, students have to go through the SLS selection process. Students have to clear SLAT to qualify for WAT and PI for undergraduate course admission. Similarly, students have to appear for AIAT and those who are shortlisted on the basis of marks obtained in AIAT can appear for PI for admission in LLM programme. SLS Nagpur provides many facilities to its students and staff members. The facilities provided by the law school are moot court, library, girls hostel, boys hostel, auditorium, sports, IT infrastructure, etc. The law school also has a placement cell which provides all the placement related assistance to the students. The placement cell also conducts internships. As per the Symbiosis Law School LLM placement statistics 2021-22, out of 26 students, 3 students opted for placements and all three were placed. Students can also avail central government scholarships and scholarships provided by UGC in Symbiosis Law School Nagpur.

• Centre for Intellectual Property Rights and Advocacy at SLS Nagpur organised a national webinar on World IP Day on the topic ‘ The Relevance of Patent Rights in the Current Scenario’. The speaker was Dr. Prachi Motiyani, HOD Department of Constitutional Law and legal Order, School of Law, Gujarat university, Ahmedabad. 

• SLS Nagpur has organised a workshop on ‘Self Expression and Self Esteem’.

• SLS Nagpur organised a webinar on ‘ Artificial Intelligence and Law- An Interface’. The speaker was Adv. Jayant Bhatt, Supreme Court of India.

• SLS Nagpur inaugurated the National Moot Court Competition -2021. The chief guests were Dr. S.C. Raina and Adv. Prashant Khajanchi.

Symbiosis Law School Nagpur Courses 

Symbiosis Law School Nagpur offers courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The various courses offered by SLS Nagpur are BA LLB, BBA LLB and LLM. The BA LLB and BBA LLB are undergraduate courses and LLM is a postgraduate course. The law school provides full-time courses. SLS Nagpur offers five year duration BA LLB and BBA LLB integrated courses and one year duration LLM course. All the courses are approved by the Bar Council of India. SLS course fees for BA LLB and BBA LLB programmes is Rs 19.20 lakhs (for Indian students open) and Rs 16.35 (for Nagpur domicile students) where the course fees for LLM programme is Rs 1.75 lakhs.

Symbiosis Law School Nagpur Admissions

SLS Nagpur offers admission to BA LLB, BBA LLB and LLM programmes. BA LLB and BBA LLB are undergraduate courses, whereas LLM is a postgraduate course. Symbiosis Law School Nagpur admission to undergraduate course is done on the basis of Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT), Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interaction (PI). Students who qualify SLAT can appear for WAT and PI. Selection of the candidates is done on the basis of merit score of SLAT (50%) + WAT-PI (20%-30%). Similarly SLS Nagpur postgraduate admission is done on the basis of eligibility criteria, All India Admission Test (AIAT) and Personal Interaction (PI). Students who qualify AIAT are eligible to appear for PI. Students are shortlisted on the basis of merit score of AIAT (70%) and PI (30%). Students are required to submit the documents and pay the fees as the final admission process of SLS Nagpur.

Symbiosis Law School Nagpur Scholarships

Symbiosis Law School Nagpur does not provide its own scholarships. Students aspiring to avail scholarships in SLS Nagpur have to apply for central government scholarships and scholarships provided by UGC. Students have to meet the eligibility criteria to avail the scholarships. Various scholarships with their eligibility criteria and scholarship amount are given below.

1. Central Scholarship Scheme- Top Class Education Scheme for SC Students- To avail this scholarship, students should have annual family income upto Rs 8 lakhs and should be pursuing full-time course. Under this scheme, full tuition fee is waived off in addition to other expenses.

2. Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students - Under this scheme, Rs 10,000 per annum for UG students and Rs 20,000 per annum for PG students are awarded. To get this scholarship, students should have annual family income upto Rs 8 Lakhs, scored 80% marks or above in 10+2 and should be pursuing a regular course.

3. ISHAN UDAY- Special Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region- This scholarship is awarded by Ministry of HRD and University Grants Commission. To get this scholarship, students should have annual family income upto Rs 4.5 lakhs, passed 10+2 and should be pursuing a regular course. Rs 5400 per month for general degree course and Rs 7800 per month for technical/medical/professional/paramedical course are awarded under this scheme.

4. PG INDIRA GANDHI SCHOLARSHIP FOR SINGLE GIRL CHILD- This scholarship is awarded by Ministry of HRD and University Grants Commission. Under this scholarship, Rs 36,200 is awarded per annum for two years.To avail this scholarship students should have age upto 30 years and should be pursuing a regular PG course.

Symbiosis Law School Nagpur, Placement

Symbiosis Law School Nagpur has a placement cell that conducts all the placement related activities. The various activities conducted by the placement cell are career mentoring programmes and counselling sessions. SLS Nagpur placement cell keeps itself updated of the current trends in the industry so that it can train its students accordingly. The placement cell has relations with many industries like law firms and corporates. The placement cell also conducts internships. SLS Nagpur placement cell offers winter internships and according to the law school placement statistics for the year 2021-22, out of total number of students, 300 students have been given the opportunity for internships in several law firms, courts, NGOs, etc.

Symbiosis Law School Nagpur facilities provide a comfortable environment that promotes learning and overall development of the students. SLS facilities include boys hostel, girls hostel, library, sports, moot court, auditorium, IT infrastructure, etc. The college library has a wide range of books. SLS library also has journals, magazines, research papers, national and international online databases, newspapers, bare acts, AIR, etc. Students can spend their free time reading and learning in the peaceful environment of the library. The college provides hostel facility for both boys and girls. Hostel rooms are well furnished and provide comfortable accommodation to outstation students.

SLS Nagpur provides a moot court facility to its students. Students pursuing their career in law can practice in the moot court of the college. The moot court of SLS provides a real court environment so that students can get properly trained to be ready to be placed as a lawyer, arbitrator or a judge. The college moot court is a large hall, having a seating capacity of 200 people. The hall is fully air-conditioned and technology enabled. SLS moot court organises various competitions on campus and at national level. 

SLS sports facility encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities. Sports facility include both indoor and outdoor games.The college also has an auditorium, which is used for multipurpose activities. The college organises various events, workshops and seminars in the auditorium. SLS classrooms are very spacious, well-furnished, well-ventilated and well-lit. All classrooms and lecture halls are fully air-conditioned and wifi enabled. Projectors, collar mikes, etc are also installed in the classrooms.

Symbiosis Law School Nagpur is located at Mouza, Wathoda Layout, Nagpur, Maharashtra. There are various means of transport to reach the law school. SLS Nagpur is located approximately 10 Kms from the Railway Station, 15 Kms from the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport. The nearest bus stop is Chawoni Bus Stop. The distance between the law school and the bus stop is 12.3 kms.
