A. Veeriya Vandayar Memorial Sri Pushpam College, Poondi was established in the year 1956 by Rao Bahadur Shri.A.Veeriya Vandayar and Shri.A.Krishnaswamy Vandayar. The institute is also known as AVVM Sri Pushpam College. Earlier the institute was affiliated to the University of Madras and later on it got affiliated to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli.  AVVM Sri Pushpam College is recognised by the University Grants Commission. The college is approved by All India Council for Technical Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi.
