Women’s Christian College was founded on 7th July 1915 as a joint venture of 12 missionary societies from the UK, USA, and Canada, under the able leadership of the first Principal, Dr. Miss Eleanor McDougall, with 41 students and 7 faculty in Hyde Park, rented premises in Kilpauk. Declared a first grade college in 1916, WCC purchased the imposing Doveton House built circa 1798 and set within 11 acres of sylvan surroundings along the banks of the River Cooum in Nungambakkam, using a gift of $25,000, generously donated by the Women’s American Baptist Fellowship Missionary Society from the legacy of Mrs. Laura Spelman Rockefeller. The College shifted to its new home on College Road on 5 July 1916 and as the number of students grew, bought up 2 adjacent parcels of land and buildings bringing up the total acreage to 20. According to the NIRF 2021 rankings, the college has been ranked 40th in the college category with an overall score of 56.18. In the NIRF 2020 rankings, the college was ranked 38th.
The Mission Statement of the College “To provide a complete, meaningful and relevant education to women so that they are intellectually well-trained, morally upright, socially aware and spiritually inspired” continues to remain relevant in the current context. Within the first week of its inception, the maxim“Lighted to Lighten” was adopted as the College Motto and the sunflower as the College Flower; the College Crest was designed and the College Song, “Alma mater” was set to the tune of Finlandia composed by Sibelius.
From the early years, the college has had ties with similar institutions both in India and abroad. Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, USA, adopted WCC as its ‘Asian Sister’ and from time to time sent us books and gifts. As a gesture of gratitude, WCC has named one of its residence halls after this patron.
In 1937, a daughter institution, St. Christopher’s Training College for training graduates in teaching was established and nurtured on campus till they moved to their own premises.

Greetings of the day dear candidate,
Admissions into various colleges will start right after board exams of class 12th will end. Also, the admisisons for various different courses have some particular eligibity criteria. So, you should wait for atleast til June for admission procedure to start.
See, if you want to take admisisons on direct basis then you can simply visit the college and fill the form and pay the fees but for that you need your class 12th marksheet. So that is why you should wait till the examination is completed for class 12th.
I hope this information will help you.
Thank you and good luck:)
Hi Ragha!
The Cut Off of B.Sc. Psychology in Women's Christian College, Chennai, has not yet been Official released by the Management. But the Admission Process for this Course is based on your 12th marks in Board Exams. From the information received 2 years before, mostly you should have above 92% for getting through Counselling. If you get less, then you can get admission through Management Quota!
Hope this is helpful!
All the best!
Hello Tharani,
It depends on the college you have joined. If there is any campus interview they will notice you just need to attend and do your duty as student. If you are selected You are either called or emailed by either HR or the hiring manager and invited to discuss the offer. If you accept it, you are probably hired, so you will know.
If yo still have any issue regarding this you can comment in below.
I hope it helps you.
There is no information given on the spot at the last interview because the interviewer usually does not know what other candidates are in the process and what is the evaluation for everyone. If the interviewer does not know, you will not know either.
