About IMU CET 2021
IMU CET 2021 - Indian Maritime University (IMU) conducts IMU CET exam for providing admission to B.Tech, M.Tech, and MBA programmes, among others, offered by IMU and affiliated institutes will be based on HSC / PUC / Intermediate exams. IMU offers admission in various courses through the Common Entrance Test (CET). The IMU CET 2021 application form will be released in online mode in May or June. IMU CET 2021 Eligibility Criteria
IMU CET B.Tech Eligibility Criteria
Candidates have to meet the eligibility criteria of IMU CET 2021. The eligibility criteria will vary depending on whether the candidate is applying for B.Tech, M.Tech or MBA programme. Among important eligibility criteria that candidates applying for B.Tech programme need to meet include that age limit, qualifying exam passed and minimum marks.
IMU CET Eligibility Criteria 2021 - B.Tech programmes
The candidates should be minimum 17 years and maximum 25 years of age as on August 1, 2021.
5 year age relaxation applies to SC/ST candidates.
The candidate should score minimum 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 10+2 or equivalent exam. Additionally, minimum 50% marks in English is also mandatory.
5% relaxation applies to For SC/ST category candidates. However, no relaxation applies to English marks.
B.Tech Marine Engineering
All candidates applying to this programme need to clear fitness as mandated by DG Shipping Guidelines.
A medical certificate issued by doctors who are approved by Director General of Shipping has to be produced by the candidates applying for Marine Engineering.
B.Tech Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (and also B.Sc Ship Building & Repair)
Physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner has to be submitted.
B.Tech Marine Engineering (and also DNS courses leading to B.Sc Applied Nautical Science, B.Sc Nautical Science, B.Sc Maritime Science)
Candidates mustn’t have any degree of squint or any morbid eye (or eyelid) condition. The candidate must have good binocular vision, the movement of the balls should be full in all directions, while the pupils should react normally to light and accommodation.
Distance vision (unaided 0.5 (6/12) in each eye or 0.67 (6/9) in better eye and 0.33 (6/18) in another eye.
Normal colour vision shall be tested by the Ishihara test chart.

IMU CET 2021 Counselling
Indian Maritime University conducts the Counselling in online mode for seat allotment to various courses offered by its six campuses. The registration process for participation in online counselling was available for short-listed candidates only. Candidates can check their eligibility for IMU CET 2021 online counselling by consulting the rank lists published by exam authorities. The first round seat allotment result will be published.
The counselling process included steps like seat allotment and document verification. During document verification, the candidate will have to submit originals of all relevant documents, including mark sheet and certificates. Only those candidates who successfully complete the document verification will be considered for admission.
There will be likely four IMU CET 2021 counselling and seat allotment rounds. Candidates who are allotted a seat in each of these rounds will have to pay the programme fee within the given deadline to confirm their seats. The first admission list has already been released on the official website.
- Counselling registration fee: Short-listed candidates will have to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 10,000 to participate in online counselling.
- Admission fee: Any candidate who is allotted a seat in any of the seat allotment rounds will have to pay a non-refundable sum of Rs. 25,000 towards programme fee as per the given schedule.

The IMU CET application form is not out yet. Generally its out in the month of April but due to Covid there is a delay. Indian Maritime University (IMU) will commence the IMU CET 2021 registrations tentatively in May or June. So, till then you will have to wait and also many things depends on the Covid situation too.

Yes, you can study Marine Engineering. Also, you are eligible to study this course if you have completed 10+2 education in Science stream from a recognised Board where you have studied studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and have secured a minimum aggregate of 55 percentage. But you should also write entrance exams to get seat in some colleges.

The eligibility criteria to appear for IMU CET 2021 is that candidate must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with minimum 60% aggregate marks (for genera category candidates) and 55% aggregate marks for SC/ST category candidates and the candidate must score minimum 50% aggregate marks in English subject from a recognized board. The official notification is not yet released but in the information brochure for admission in the academic year 2020-21 it was given that a candidate who appears in the qualifying that is class 12th exam after August 2020 are not eligible to apply. SO by considering this you can appear for IMU CET if you appear in the qualifying exam before August 2021 else you are not eligible to apply.

The eligilbity criteria states that candidate should have qualified 12th standard (or equivalent) examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from any recognized central or state board and Candidates should have scored minimum 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. At least 50% marks have to be secured in English. So 10+2 level appering candidate are not eligible for IMU CET. General category candidates should be minimum 18 years and maximum 25 years old as on August 1, 2021. For the SC/ST category, there is 5 year relaxation in the upper age limit.
