About KCET 2020

KCET 2020 also known as Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) will be conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) on April 22 and 23 for admission in Engineering, B. Pharm and Farm Science courses in Government/ University/ Private Aided/Private un-aided institutions in Karnataka State. Candidates who have passed or are appearing in the qualifying examination i.e. 2nd PUC/12th standard are eligible to appear for KCET 2020. The application of KCET 2020 will be available in online mode. The exam will be held on two days in four different sessions for four subjects – Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The questions of KCET 2020 will be based on I and II PUC syllabus prescribed by the Department of Pre-University Education State. The authorities will prepare a category-wise merit list on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the KCET 2020 and qualifying examination.

KCET B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for admission to KCET B.Tech courses is given below:

  • Candidates must be a citizen of India
  • Candidates must have passed 2nd PUC/Class 12/equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as mandatory subjects
  • Along with the compulsory subjects, candidates must have anyone optional subjects - Biology/Chemistry/Bio-Technology/ Electronics/Computer Science with a language subject English
  • General candidates must obtain a minimum of 45% and reserved candidates must have secured 40% in the case of Category-1 and OBC (2A, 2B, 3A and 3B) SC, ST

For admission to Government seats, candidates must fulfil anyone of the eligible clauses as prescribed by KCET.

KCET B.Pharma Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility for admission to KCET B. Pharm courses is given below:

  • Candidates must have qualified 2nd PUC or class 12th examination with PCM or PCB subjects.
  • General candidates must have secured 45% aggregate while reserved categories i.e. Category-I, OBC and ST/SC should secure 40% to apply for KCET 2020

or 

  • Candidates must have passed Diploma in Pharmacy for a government approved and general candidates should have scored 45% while SC/ST categories and Category-I and OBC (2A, 2B, 3A and 3B) must secure 40%.

For admission to Government seats, candidates must fulfil anyone of the eligible clauses as prescribed by KCET.

KCET B.Sc.(Hons) Agriculture Eligibility Criteria

For admission to KCET B.Sc. Hons. Agriculture 2019, candidates must fulfil the eligibility criteria as prescribed by KEA. Candidates have to pass in 2nd PUC/Class 12th/equivalent exam from a recognised board along with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and an optional subject as Biology to be eligible for KCET 2020.

Candidates must fulfil anyone of the eligible clauses as prescribed by KCET in case of admission to Government seats.

KEA will release the application form of KCET 2020 in online mode for various courses tentatively in the first week of February. Before filling the KCET 2020 application form, candidates will have to check the eligibility criteria as prescribed by the authority. The application form of KCET 2020 will be available only in online mode. Candidates are advised to keep all the required details such as valid email ID, phone number personal, contact and educational details etc ready before filling the Karnataka Common Entrance Test 2020 application form. Steps to fill the application form is given below for reference:

Step 1: Registration – Candidates have to click “ New User? Click Here to Register” to start the online application process. Enter all required details and click on submit button. An application number and User ID will be displayed on the screen and also sent to the candidate’s registered mobile number and email ID. 

Step 2: Enter login and personal details – Candidates have to enter login credentials (User ID and password) on the login page. After login, a student information page will be displayed where candidates have to enter the details such as nationality, caste, category, academic, contact, previous KCET examination (if any), school details etc.

Step 3: Uploading of candidate's photograph, Left Hand Thumb Impression (LHT) and signature along with parents’ signature – Upload the required images as per prescribed dimensions and size.

Step 5: Printout of KCET 2020 application form – After payment of fees, candidates have to take a printout of the filled in KCET application form in A4 size paper and affix the following documents:

i) Candidate’s recent photograph

ii) Signature

ii) Left-hand thumb impression

Candidates have to take principal/gazetted officer’s signature and seal of their respective college board or equivalent and the original application form should be produced at the time of document verification during KCET counselling.

Candidates are advised to keep safely 2 to 3 photocopies of the application form for future admission process

KCET Application Edit Link- The authorities will also provide a facility for the applicants to edit their KCET application form. Candidates will be able to make corrections only within the time specified by the authorities.

  • Understand the syllabus and exam pattern of KCET.
  • Make a planned timetable and segregate each subject wisely.
  • Use flowcharts, diagrams, formulas and make notes regularly.
  • Practice from the sample papers, previous years practice papers to know the types of questions and weightage of each subject in the board exam.

Students are advised to follow KCET 2020 exam pattern in order to appear in the entrance test. Karnataka CET 2020 will be conducted in offline mode tentatively in the last week of April.   • For each correct answer, one mark will be allotted.

  • There will be no negative marking.

KEA will issue the KCET 2020 admit card in online mode for appearing in the entrance test. To appear in the Common Entrance Test candidates will have to download the admit of KCET 2020 within prescribed dates. To download the admit card of KCET 2020, candidates will have to enter application number and date of birth as per SSLC/Class 10th mark sheet in the login window. Details like name, photograph and signature of the candidate, roll and application number, name and address of exam centre, date and time of the test will be present in the admit card. It will be mandatory to carry an identity proof, ball pen along with the admit card. Candidates will have to preserve the KCET 2020 admit card till the admission process is completed in the allotted college or institute.

How to download KCET Admit Card 2020?

  • Visit the official website.
  • Click on admit card link.
  • Enter Application number and date of birth.
  • Click on "Submit" button.
  • KCET admit card will be displayed on the screen.
  • Download the admit card and take a print out.

The answer key of KCET 2020 will be released by KEA.  The authorities will first release a provisional answer key of KCET 2020. Candidates will be able to challenge the provisional answer key along with the supporting documents for justification and send it to the specified address in person or through speed post/email ID on the allotted dates. The final answer key will be available after the objections are checked. The experts of KEA will decide the right answer key. No objections can be made to the final answer key of KCET.

How to raise objections to provisional KCET answer key?

  • Candidates can raise objections to provisional answer key either in person or only through Speed Post/ email: keauthority-ka@nic.in. 
  • The objections should be addressed to “Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore”.
  • Candidates must submit/produce supporting documents for their objections.

The result for KCET B.Tech, B-Farm and Agriculture will be declared by KEA in online mode. Candidates will have to enter their registration number to check their results. To know the spot ranks, candidates will have to enter their Common Entrance Test (CET) number. The result of KCET 2020 will carry information like subject wise scores, total marks secured by candidates and ranks obtained.

Steps to check KCET Result 2020

  • Visit the official website.
  • Click on result link.
  • Enter KCET registration number.
  • Click on "Submit" button.
  • KCET result will be displayed on the screen.
  • Download the result and take a print out for future reference.

KEA will release the KCET cutoff 2020 for different programmes and categories after the declaration of the result. KCET cutoff is the announced in the form of closing rank at a particular institute or college as per the preference of the courses and category of the candidates. The cutoff will be determined on the basis of various factors such as total number of candidates appeared in the exam, difficulty level of the exam, performance of candidates in the entrance test, availability of seats in KCET participating institutes or colleges.

Mode of Counselling: Online, Offline

KEA will conduct KCET 2020 counselling tentatively from the first week of June. KCET counselling will be conducted in two rounds along with an extended second round and spot round. It must be noted that only the candidates shortlisted on the basis of KCET result will be called to participate in the counselling process. Candidates will have to register online in order to participate in the counselling of KCET 2020.  Following steps will be involved in KCET counselling 2020.

Step 1 - Document Verification and Registration- Candidates will have to get their documents verified at the specified centres. Candidates will be given unique Id and password after successful verification.  

Step 2 - Choice Filling and Locking- Next, candidates will have to login to the system using the User Id and password. After login, candidates will have to fill their choices of institutes and courses. Candidates will be allowed add, modify, delete choices. Candidates must lock their choices before the last date otherwise the system will automatically lock the choices. No changes can be made to the choices after locking.

Step 3 - Allotment of Seats- After this, the authorities will first release the mock seat allotment result of KCET 2020. Since the mock allotment is conducted to let the candidates know their chances of admissions based on their merit and preferred seats. The candidates will be able to change their choices after the mock allotment result is announced. Candidates will be able to check their allotment status in online mode by logging in using their CET number.

Step 4 - Reporting at Allotted Institutes-  The candidates who will be allotted seats will have to report the allotted institute to confirm their seat and payment of admission fees.

Other state students are not eligible to apply for KCET exam. In order to appear for this Examination you will have to fulfill the eligible criteria mentioned by them ,that is you must have atleast 7 years of education from any Institute from karnataka. So if you fulfill that you can apply.

First and the most important book for KCET preparation is NCERT, there are questions directly from the ncert in KCET.Do multiple revisions of the NCERT.
After completion of NCERT, just to previous year question papers and solve them.
Start preparing frim standard books and finally Dinesh kcet book,Arihants KCET solved papers and MTG Karnataka CET Explorer.

In KCET 2020 , the reservation criteria says that you are only eligible for the exam if you have studied in Telangana for seven plus years . If you fulfill this eligibility criteria then only you can appear for this exam else not.

Hello!

It doesn't matter if you are a local citizen of Karnataka. The criteria for getting a seat under KCET is that you should have studied in Karnataka for 7 years and plus. Only then you are qualified to write this entrance exam. Hence, Comedk is the option you can opt for.
