About WBJEE 2019

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) will conduct a common entrance examination called as WBJEE on May 26, 2019 for admissions to the undergraduate courses in engineering and pharmacy in the state. The entrance exam is commonly called as West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE). Candidates will have to appear in the Paper-I (Mathematics) and Paper-II (Physics & Chemistry-combined) for admission in Engineering, Technology and Pharmacy courses while candidates appearing only in paper 2  will get admission only in Pharmacy courses being offered at Universities, Government Colleges, and Self Financing Engineering and Technological institutes of West Bengal. 

Architecture admissions are through NATA while medical admissions are through NEET UG. The application form of WBJEE 2019 was available from December 26, 2018, to January 23, 2019. The admit card will be available from May 14, 2019. The result of WBJEE 2019 will be announced on July 2.

WBJEE 2019 Eligibility Criteria

WBJEE B.Tech

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board has set few eligibility parameters for the aspirants of WBJEE 2019. Eligibility criteria differs from course to course. There will be two papers in WBJEE 2019: Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry Combined).  Participants taking part in both paper and getting ranked will be eligible for admission in BTech/Pharmacy/Architecture courses. In order to take part in that exam aspirants need to fulfill the eligibility criteria prescribed for the WBJEE 2019. For taking admission in the WBJEE 2019 B.Tech course:

  • Candidates must be citizen of India.
  • His/her age should not be less that 17 years on December 31, 2019, there is no upper age limit for WBJEE 2019 but for Marine Engineering Degree Course upper age limit will be 25 years on December 31, 2019.
  • Candidate should have passed Class 12 as regular student from a recognized board with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science/ Biotechnology/Computer Application as compulsory subjects.
  • The aggregate marks in these three subjects taken together should not be less than 45% (for SC/ST/OBC /PwD 40%).

WBJEE B.Arch

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board has set few eligibility parameters for the aspirants of WBJEE 2019. Eligibility criteria differs from course to course and some institutes have put in their additional terms. Three will be two paper in WBJEE 2019: Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry Combined). Candidates who will take part in Paper 2 and get ranked will be eligible for taking admission in only Pharmacy course. Participants taking part in both paper and getting ranked will be eligible for admission in BTech/Pharmacy/Architecture courses. In order to take part in that exam aspirants need to fulfill the eligibility criteria prescribed for the WBJEE 2019. For taking admission in the WBJEE 2019 B.Arch course:

  • Candidates must be citizen of India.
  • His/her age should not be less that 17 years on December 31, 2019, there is no upper age limit for WBJEE 2019.
  • Candidate should have passed Class 12 as regular student from a recognized board with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science/ Biotechnology/Computer Application as compulsory subjects.
  • The aggregate marks should not be less than 50% in Class 12. 
  • Candidate should have cleared either National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by Council of Architecture (COA) or Paper 2 of JEE Main 2019.

WBJEE B.Pharma

WBJEE 2019 Eligibility criteria differs from course to course. Candidates who appear for Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry Combined) can apply for only pharmacy courses while candidates who appear for both Paper 1 & 2 can apply for engineering coyrses as well. The eligibility criteria for WBJEE 2019 for the B.Pharm courses are:

  • Only citizens of India are eligible to apply.
  • Age should not be less that 17 years on Dec. 31, 2019. However, there is no upper age limit for WBJEE 2019.
  • Candidate should have passed Class 12 as regular students from a recognized board.
  • They must have studied with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology/Computer Science/ Biotechnology/Computer Application as compulsory subjects with pass marks in both Practical and Theory sections individually.
  • The aggregate marks in these three subjects taken together should not be less than 45% (for SC/ST/OBC /PwD 40%).
  • Candidates should have passed English subject of Class 12 with at least 30% marks.

The application form of WBJEE 2019 was available from December 26, 2018. Candidates had to submit the application form on or before January 23. The application correction window is open from January 24 to 25. However, if the date extends it will be notified here.  Check the steps given below to complete the application process.

WBJEE 2019 Application process

Registration: The first step was to register online. Candidates had to be very careful while filling the information while registering because the information entered at this stage i.e. applicant's name, mother's name, date of birth, father's name etc., will not be available for editing later.

Entering the details: The candidates had to enter the details related to eligibility, course, city and communication etc. 

Document Uploading: After entering the required details the candidates had to upload the required documents in the prescribed format.

Application fee and confirmation: In order to complete the online application process candidates had to pay Rs. 500 towards application fee by using online (credit/ debit card or net banking) or offline mode. Once the form is submitted candidates were advised to take a print out of the confirmation page and keep it safely for future reference.

Aspirant should make themselves familiar with the syllabus of all subjects of WBJEE 2019 and prepare for them according to their grasp and weightage given to the subjects. Practising a lot with the help of papers of previous years and sample papers in will help a lot in improving aspirants performance. Students should analyze their performance after solving every sample paper and then try to work on the topics which need more attention in order to cracking the exam WBJEE 2019.

In order to crack any exam gathering information about the exam pattern, sections, weightage, evaluation schem, duration, plays very important role. Exam will be held in offline mode and it will comprise multiple choice questions. There will be two papers in WBJEE 2019; Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry combine). Candidates taking part in Paper 2 will be able to take admission in pharmacy courses only, candidates taking part in Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be eligible for taking admission in Architecture/ Engineering/ Technology/ Pharmacy courses. Aspirants taking part in only paper 1 will not get any Rank. 

Candidates will get 120 minutes for each paper i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2. 

For category 1 questions there will be just one correct option, 1 mark will be given for a correct answer while an incorrect answer will fetch -0.25 marks.
For category 2 questions there will be just one correct option and 2 marks will be given for a correct answer while an incorrect answer will fetch -0.5 marks.
For category 3 questions there will be one or more options can correct and 2 marks will be given for correct answer while incorrect answer will fetch 0 marks while for partially correct answers candidates will get marks as per this formula: 2 x (no. of correct options marked/total no. of correct options).

Admit card for WBJEE 2019 will be released on May 14. Candidates will have to login and download it. It must be noted that the admit card is a very important document for appearing in the exam, no candidate will be allowed to take part in WBJEE 2019 without admit card. Documents Required at Exam

  • WBJEE-2019 admit card
  • 1 copy of colour photograph which was uploaded in the online form of WBJEE-2019
  • Original copy of photo-id card such as pan card/ aadhar card/ passport/ 10th admit card/ school-id/ voter card etc.

The model answer keys is expected to be released by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) within three weeks of conducting the exam. Candidates can challenge the model key after logging in on the board's website but for that purpose they will have to pay fixed fee i.e. Rs. 500/- per question, by credit/debit card/net banking/e-challan. The challenges will be reviewed and final answer keys of WBJEE 2019 will be uploaded. Tentatively, 2-3 weeks after WBJEE 2019, image of OMR Sheets and answers read by machine will also be made available on board's website, with the help of application number and password students can view it and if they are not happy with captured answers, they can file their challenge online after paying stipulated fee of Rs 500 per question.  

WBJEE 2019 result will be declared on July 2. It will be released in the form of rank card. Information about the score, total and of Paper 1 and 2; and concerned ranks according to the papers will be there in the rank card of WBJEE 2019. With the help of their log in ID and password candidates can download and view their rank card.

WBJEE 2019 cutoff score is the minimum mark which aspirants will have to gain to become eligible for taking part in counselling and seat allocation process for available various course. The cutoff score for taking admission in Technology/ Engineering/ Architecture and Pharmacy will differ from each other. The board will declare cutoff score for both the papers If candidates have appeared in only Paper 2 and scored above cutoff only then he/ she will get Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR). Candidates having appeared in exam of Paper 1 and Paper 2 and scoring above the cutoff mark will get General Merit Rank (GMR) and PMR both. Those candidates will not get any rank who will take part in only Paper 1. Depending upon the category of candidate, selected course and Institute cutoff mark will be different.

Mode of Counselling: Online

For taking admission in institute and course of their choice, all GMR and PMR holders of WBJEE 2019 will have to participate in the counselling process of WBJEE 2019. Verification of documents is done only during counselling and admission process and registration with the university. So, it's a necessary step towards taking admission. No candidate will be given admission without taking part in counselling of WBJEE 2019. Before counselling and allotment, the seat matrix comprising information about the institute and course wise availability of seats will be published on the board's site. Participants can make use of this for selecting an appropriate option for themselves.

These are the steps for taking part in the counselling process of WBJEE 2019:

Registration and payment of counselling fee: Eligible candidates need to register online for taking part in the counselling process by submitting the required information. In order to register for counselling, process candidates are supposed to pay Rs. 500 and applicable charge towards the counselling fee of WBJEE 2019 through Credit/ Debit Card/ Net Banking. Participants Identity code and password will be created.

Online choice filling and locking: As per their choice, the participant can select course and institute and lock them before the last date fixed in this regard. Participants should keep a copy of the locked options with them for future reference.

Allotment of seat and verification: Candidates will be allocated a seat in their preferred course and institute as per the availability on the order of merit. Those candidates who got allocated a seat in the first round should pay required provisional admission fee online and then physically report to the reporting center for verification of documents with original and copies of required documents; they can exercising seat confirmation or up-gradation option at center. Candidates who will not report to centers their allotted seat will be cancelled and they will be dropped out from the up coming online counselling rounds.

Second round of WBJEE 2019 seat allotment will be done for the seats remaining vacant after the first round of reporting. Then third round of WBJEE 2019 seat allotment will be published for the seats remaining vacant after the second round of reporting. Finally, mop up round of e-counselling will be conducted for registered candidates.
