Moreover it’s also an appreciation of their efforts when scholarships are awarded to them.
Scholarships play a crucial role in the education of students who are not able to continue their education due to financial barriers. In this article, Careers360 has listed various scholarships that are provided by various departments of the Government of Karnataka to students belonging to the EWS category.
This scholarship is an initiative of the Government of Karnataka to provide financial aid to the matric passed students whose annual family income is not more than Rs 2 lakh and belong to any of the OBC, SC, ST, central OBC or economically weaker general category.
Eligibility:
Must be a domicile or permanent resident of Karnataka.
Must be studying in Class 11 or above.
Must have secured at least 50 percent marks in Class 10.
The annual family income should not exceed Rs 2 lakh.
What It Covers:
Admission fees, hostel fees, tuition fees and maintenance allowance.
Students pursuing MPhil will get Rs 8,000 at the end of their research work.
Students doing PhD will get Rs 10,000 at the end of their research work.
Note:
Residents of other states studying in Karnataka are not eligible for this scholarship.
Those students who are studying through distance education mode or are pursuing any certificate course are not eligible for this scholarship.
30% of this scholarship is reserved for girl students.

This scholarship is an initiative of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of Karnataka to financially support and encourage students who have passed Class 10 and belong to minority communities.
Eligibility:
Must belong to a minority community (Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi and Jain).
Must have taken admission in Class 11 or above.
Must have secured at least 50 percent in his/her previous semester/year examination.
The annual family income should not exceed Rs 2 lakh.
What It Covers: The rewards provided under this scheme are as follows:

This scholarship is provided by the Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board, State government of Karnataka to provide financial aid to the students belonging to the economically weaker section (EWS) of the Brahmin community.
Eligibility:
Must be a permanent resident of Karnataka.
Must belong to the Brahmin community and possess a Brahmin caste certificate issued by the Tahsildar.
Must belong to the BPL category.
Must have passed at least Class 10.
What It Covers: A direct benefit transfer (DBT) of Rs 15,000 into the bank accounts of eligible students to meet the expenses incurred on admission, books & stationery, electronic equipment, hostel fees, transportation and clothing etc.

This scholarship is provided by the Directorate of Minorities, State Government of Karnataka to minority students pursuing a technical or professional degree from a government recognised college or institution.
Eligibility:
Must be a domicile of Karnataka belonging to a minority community (Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi and Jain).
Must be pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in a technical or professional course.
Must have secured at least 50 percent marks in his/her previous exam.
The annual family income from all sources should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh.
What It Covers: A scholarship of Rs 30,000.

Started in 2016 and popularly known as D Devaraj King Pratibha award, this scholarship is provided by the Backwards Classes Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka to those brilliant students who belong to Backward Class and aspire to pursue higher studies.
Eligibility:
Must be a permanent resident of Karnataka.
Must belong to the Backward Classes (BC) category as determined by the Karnataka government.
Must be studying in a government recognised institution.
Must have secured at least 90 percent marks in the SSLC (Class 10), PUC (Class 12) and bachelors or masters degree programmes.
The annual family income from all sources should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh.
What It Covers: The rewards provided under this scheme are as follows:

This scholarship is provided by the State Government of Karnataka to those SC/ST students who want to pursue a postgraduate or PhD degree in a foreign country. Those selected get almost 100 percent monetary aid from the state government.
Eligibility:
Must belong to the SC/ST category.
Must be a domicile of Karnataka.
Must be willing to pursue a postgraduate or a higher degree in any of the streams - Humanities, Pure Sciences, Applied Sciences, Social Sciences, Accounting Management, Law, Commerce, Finance, Medicine, Engineering and Agriculture in a foreign country.
Must have obtained an unconditional offer letter only from foreign universities/institutions that are ranked within the overall Global Ranking 500 published in QS world Ranking & US news.
Must have secured at least 60 percent marks in their previous qualifying exam.
Should not be over 35 years of age as of July 1, 2023.
What It Covers:
The entire tuition fee of the student.
A sum of up to Rs 75,000 as a contingency allowance.
An offer of up to Rs 6,00,000 as an annual maintenance allowance.
Note: The Government of Karnataka will cover the candidate's visa fee and flight tickets.
