    Important Dates For October Exam:

    1. Registrations Till September 24, 2022

    2. Hall Ticket: Can be downloaded 2 days before exam

    3. Exam: Expected to start on 9 October 2022.

    Verbal Ability For Tcs NQT

    Verbal ability preparation for TCS NQT is important to crack the test.

    If you are proficient in English then you will find Verbal ability questions quite easier. You must see the sample questions given in this article later and practice sample papers as well.

    If you are not proficient in English, you have to follow the below mentioned steps in sequence

    • Go through the syllabus very carefully.

    • Categorise the topics based on your ability.

    • Read the topic and practice questions based on that particular topic.

    TCS NQT Verbal Ability Syllabus

    1. Cognitive Verbal: Knowledge of the words to be used in Unique task/cause.

    2. Spotting errors: To find the errors on the basis of use of parts of speech and verb arrangement. You must go through parts of speech. It will help you for TCS NQT verbal ability preparation.

    3. Antonyms/Synonyms: If you have learnt so many synonyms and antonyms, then it will be good. Otherwise you have to solve questions on the basis of how the words are used in the sentences.

    4. Spelling: You must learn new words. Reading newspapers/ novels will help you.

    5. Sentence formation/ Ordering of words/ Sentence Correction/ Ordering of sentence/ Paragraph formation: All these topics can be prepared in a group. Revisit Tenses, Use of helping Verbs, Use of articles, Parts of speech. Practice more and more questions on that and you will get an idea to answer these questions.

    6. Cloze test: In a cloze test, you have to fill the free space between the sentences. Again, the same topics as discussed above are required.

    7. One-word substitution/ Idioms and Phrases: Learn commonly used one word substitution and idioms and phrases.

    8. Change of voice: Active and Passive Voice

    9. Direct and Indirect Speech: Questions based on Conversion from “Direct to indirect speech or Indirect to Direct speech” will be asked.

    Most importantly, a candidate must have to improve his/ her reading skills. As mentioned earlier, one can read newspapers or novels.

    Sample TCS NQT Verbal Ability Questions And Answers

    Question 1: Valery gave all his toys to George, since she ________ them anymore.
    a) Will use b) will not use c) Doesn’t use d) never use.

    Correct Ans: - b) doesn’t use.

    Explanation: The sentence is in past tense; hence it would be grammatically incorrect to say ‘will not use’ and ‘will use’. Therefore, “doesn’t use” will be the correct option as we cannot use ‘don’t” with a “them” which is a noun. “Never use” option is also incorrect as the helping verb is missing, it should be ‘does never use’.

    Therefore, it seems that option b is correct.

    Question 2: Choose a word that is OPPOSITE to the meaning of the word given below:

    Plethora
    a) Abundance b) Surfeit c) excess d) Dearth

    Correct Ans: (d) dearth

    Explanation: Plethora means “a very large amount of something” Meaning of dearth is something which is in lack of, therefore it should be the correct answer.

    Question 3: Fill the space with an appropriate article if the sentence is grammatically incorrect.

    a) Data insufficient b) A c) An d) No error

    Correct Answer: d

    Explanation: No error, as the article is already present in the question itself.

    Direction: Read the following passage carefully, and answer the questions:

    Cricket, being called a gentleman’s game since long time, it is one of the most played game in the world, for some people it is a form of love and for others it’s just a conscious choice.

    Cricket is particularly very famous in England and India and it is one of the highest paying game in both the mentioned countries.

    There are various formats and leagues of Cricket which are being enthusiastically played and watched by audience all around the globe, every form has its different set of rules.

    In India despite Hockey being the national sport of the country, cricket still beats in the heart of the country.
