IIT Patna Placement Report 2020-21: Placement Rate Rose 17% Despite Covid-19

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna is in the list of top 30 engineering colleges of India, as ranked by the education ministry’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). During the COVID-19 pandemic, when many top engineering colleges saw their placement rates dip, IIT Patna’s increased albeit after a slide. Computer Science and Engineering students reported a placement rate of 95 percent and received the highest salary of more than Rs 54 lakh per annum.

Careers360 gathered the placement data of IIT Patna through a right Right to Information application and found that companies that recruit from top IITs are visiting and recruiting students of IIT Patna regularly.

IIT Patna Placements: Last 3 Years

IIT Patna’s placement rates have varied over the last three years, fitting the trend at even the oldest and top IITs and possibly linked to the general havoc caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in 2020-21, IIT Patna’s placement percentages rose by a very sharp 17.61 percentage points and that was the best performance in the last three years.

Placement By Branch

In total, 207 students registered for campus placement, of whom 140 got jobs in 2020-21, which is nearly 68 percent.

IIT Patna Recruiters: Last three years

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of companies that visited the IIT Patna campus for recruitment did not decrease. In three years, the numbers show an increasing trend.

In these three years, Microsoft was always part of the recruitment drive, while Goldman Sachs, DE Shaw, Google, Amazon each took part twice.
