Pre-matric scholarship for students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Class 9 and 10, Assam

To reduce the dropout rate and help students progress to post-matric (junior college) education, the Central Government joins with the State Government to bring this scholarship to students of class 9 and 10.

Eligibility:

• Be a domicile of Assam

• Regular full-time student studying in Class 9 or Class 10 in a government school or a school recognised by the government or a Central/ state board of secondary education.

• Parents/ guardian’s income below 2.5 lakh per annum or lower.

• The student should not be getting any other Centrally funded pre-matric scholarship

• NOTE: The scholarship will be available for studying for only one year in one class, if a student has to repeat the class, the scholarship will not be available.

Benefits:

• Rs 255 per month for day scholars and Rs 525 per month for hostellers

• Book and ad-hoc grant Rs 750 per annum for day scholars and Rs 1,000 for hostellers

Post-matric scholarship for SC students (College-going students)

The idea of this scholarship is to increase the enrollment of students who cannot support college education. This scholarship for students of north east India for post-matriculation helps them to complete their studies and go for higher studies or get good-paying jobs.

Eligibility:

• Be a domicile of Assam

• Belong to SC

• Be studying Class 11 or above

• Family income below 2.5 lakh per annum

• Not holding any other scholarship

Benefits:

• Days scholar – Rs 3,500 per annum

• Hosteller – Rs 7,000 per annum

North Eastern Council (NEC) Merit Scholarship

NEC aims to financially assist those students from the northeastern states who qualify the eligibility parameters set by the council and wish to complete higher education.

Eligibility:

• Open for students who are permanent residents of the Northeast region

• Get admission in degree, diploma or post-graduation courses

• Family income below 8 lakh per annum

• Have passed Class 10 and Class 12 with 60 per cent of marks

• The scholarship is not available for internship or training

Benefits:

• Diploma – Rs 20,000 per annum

• Degree – Rs 22,000 per annum

• PG – Rs 25,000 per annum

• M.Phil and PhD – Rs 30,000 per annum

Ishan Uday Scholarship

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) and the University Grant Commission (UGC) has taken a step with the Ishan Uday Scholarship to promote the economically backward category of students to pursue higher studies.

Eligibility:

• Domicile of NER region

• Passed Class 12 in the preceding year

• Secured admission in the first year (any degree)

• Family income below Rs 4.5 lakh per annum

• Transgender students can apply for the scholarship

Benefits:

• Rs 5,400 per month for general degree courses students

• Rs 7,800 per month for technical, medical and other professional courses

Pre-matric scholarship for students belonging to SC (Scheduled Castes) (Class 9-10), Manipur

The Social Welfare Department of the Government of Manipur, along with the Government of India aims to uplift the students belonging to SC by providing financial assistance to help them pursue their education.

Eligibility:

• Only for SC category students

• Parents/guardians' income not exceeding Rs 2.5 lakh per annum (Income certificate is required)

• Not a recipient of any other Centrally funded Pre Matric scholarship

• Applicant needs to produce the physical copy of Aadhar or Undergo Aadhar authentication

Benefits:

• Day Scholars get Rs 225 per month for 10 months, plus Rs 750 per annum for Books and Ad Hoc

• Hostellers get Rs 750 per month for 10 months, plus Rs 1000 per annum for Books and Ad Hoc

Centrally sponsored Post-Matric scholarship for students belonging to SC, Manipur and Meghalaya

The Government of India with the help of the state government aims to reach economically weaker sections of the Northeastern states to promote higher education amongst the youth.

Eligibility:

• Only the citizens of India belonging to Scheduled Caste

• The income of parents/ guardians should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh per annum

• The age limit is decided by the institutions where the student will study

• Candidates who are pursuing double degrees in the same stage, for example, after completion of BA in Economics the candidate applies again for BA in any other subject or MA candidate applies for another MA in the different subject after graduation in the first, will not be able to avail this scholarship

• Those pursuing correspondence/online courses from Central/state universities can avail this scholarship

• The student must not be a beneficiary of any other Centrally funded scholarship

• The student is allowed to accept the state's monetary help for lodging, grant, or ad hoc help.

Benefits:

• Degree and postgraduate levels: Day scholars Rs 7,500 and hostellers Rs. 13,500 yearly

• Other professional courses leading to certificate, degree and diploma: Day scholars Rs 6,500 and hostellers Rs 9,500 yearly

• Graduate and postgraduate courses other than above: Day scholars Rs 3,000 and hostellers Rs 6,000 yearly

• All post-matriculation (after 10th) non-degree courses: Day scholars Rs 2,500 and hostellers Rs 4,000 yearly

PM-YASASVI post matric scholarship for students belonging to OBC (Other backward Classes), Manipur

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India has planned to offer 15,000 scholarships to the meritorious students from OBC, De-Notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic (DNT), and Economically Backward Class (EBC) categories.

Eligibility:

• Scholarship for Indian Students belonging to OBC, EBC and DNT

• The income of parents/ guardians should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh per annum

• The student must be studying in Class 9 or 10 on a full-time basis

Benefits:

• All post matriculation post class 10th non-degree courses: Academic Allowance: Rs 5,000

Centrally sponsored pre-matric scholarship for students belonging to SC (Class 9-10), Manipur

Students from SC who lack the economic support system can avail of this scholarship run by the government of India to complete their classes 9 and 10.

• The student must not be a beneficiary of any other Centrally funded scholarship

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India initiated this northeastern scholarship to promote education among youth.

Only for OBC, De-Notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic (DNT), and Economically Backward Class (EBC) categories.

Eligibility:

• Scholarship for Indian Students belonging to OBC, EBC and DNT

• The income of parents/ guardians should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh per annum (Income certificate required)

• The student must be studying in class 9 or 10 on a full-time basis

Benefits:

Centrally sponsored scheme of pre-matric scholarship for students belonging to SC, Class 9-10, Meghalaya

The Government of India with the help of the state government of Meghalaya looks at increasing the enrollments and decreasing the dropout numbers of students coming from economically lower categories such as Scheduled Castes.

Eligibility:

• Only for SC category students

• Parents/guardians' income not exceeding Rs 2.5 lakh per annum (income certificate is required)

• Not a recipient of any other Centrally funded pre matric scholarship

Pre Matric SC (Cleaning and Health hazard), Tripura

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment aims to help the students whose parents are involved in cleaning and health hazard-related activities. The scholarship covers the cost till the student clears class 10.

Eligibility:

• Scholarship for students whose parents, irrespective of their religion/caste, work in

• Manual scavenging

• Banner and flyers

• Waste pickers end

• Engaged in hazardous cleaning as defined in Section 2 (i) (d) of Manual Scavengers Act 2013

Pre Matric ST Scholarship Schemes

The Social Welfare Department of the Government of Meghalaya, along with the Government of India brings this scholarship to uplift the students belonging to Scheduled Tribe (ST) by providing financial assistance to help them pursue their education.

Eligibility:

• Scholarship for students belonging to Scheduled Tribe

• Parents/guardians' income not exceeding Rs 2.0 lakh per annum (Income certificate is required)

• Not a recipient of any other Centrally funded pre matric scholarship

• Should be a regular student at government school or a school recognised by the Central/State Board of Secondary Education

• Students cannot avail of the scholarship for the same year if they fail that class

Benefits:

• Day Scholars get Rs 150 per month for 10 months, plus Rs 750 per annum for Books and Ad Hoc

• Hostellers get Rs 350 per month for 10 months, plus Rs 1000 per annum for Books and Ad Hoc
