Computer Science Engineering students at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut, Kerala, posted the best placement record of all branches of engineering on offer in the 2020-21 academic year. All 100 percent of students who registered for the campus job drive were placed. BTech in CSE students also received the highest salary packages, pulling their batch’s average salary ahead of everyone else’s.
NIT Calicut is the first among all NITs to have ranked in the ministry of education’s Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) in 2021. NIT Calicut is also among the top five NITs of India. In the Engineering category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), it ranked at number 25 in 2021.
Based on data obtained through a Right to Information application, Careers360 analysed the placement performance of each branch of Engineering at NIT Calicut.
NIT Calicut’s placement rate was touching 90 percent when it saw a sharp drop of eight percentage points in 2019-20 – likely an impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it recovered the very next year, rising to well over 80 percent.
The number of enrolled students has increased over the years and so has the number of students placed.
