National Institute of Technology Surathkal, Karnataka (NITK) has maintained a near-constant placement rate of 92 percent for its students over three years. Its Computer Science and Engineering BTechs reported a placement rate of 100 percent.
Among the top NITs as ranked in the National Institutional Ranking Framework’s (NIRF) list of engineering colleges, NIT Surathkal stood second. In 2021, it was the tenth best engineering college in India. Given below is a branch-wise analysis of its placement performance, based on official data obtained through a Right to Information application.
From the batch graduating in 2018-19 to the batch of 2020-21, the placement rate at NIT Surathkal has remained constant and, over 90 percent. The data below is for undergraduate BTech students.

Overall, 92 percent of students who registered for placements were successfully placed in the 2020-21 academic year.
A total of 661 students from the branches listed below had registered for placement in NIT Surathkal. Of them, 608 students received job offers.

In 2020-21, the average maximum salary received, taking all branches at NIT Surathkal together, was Rs 28.96 lakh per annum.
The Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and Information Technology branches had the best maximum salary as well as the best placement rates.

The average salary, taking all branches of engineering taught at NIT Surathkal together, was Rs 11.67 lakh per year. However, more than half of the BTech branches were unable to cross the overall average.
NIT Surathkal Placement: Average Annual Salary
The overall average minimum salary offered to NIT Surathkal’s BTech graduates was Rs 4.25 lakh per year.
The ECE branch posted a healthy placement rate as well as the highest maximum salary; however, it also had the lowest minimum salary of all branches of engineering offered by NIT Surathkal.
