     Cost of education should not deter Class 11 students from going forward as a number of scholarships are available for them. Students who are not financially well off can avail of dozens of scholarships to complete even their postgraduate studies.

    A number of scholarships are available to students of Class 11 to pursue their studies without having to bother about financial constraints. The eligibility for some of these scholarships is Class 10 marks and for others, the students will have to appear for entrance tests. These will test the students’ skills and knowledge about respective subjects. Here are some important scholarships you can look up if you are in Class 11.

    Now, let’s look at each one of them in detail.

    National Level Science Talent Search Examination (NSTSE):

    NSTSE is conducted by The Unified Council in India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Nepal, Libya, Indonesia, Yemen, Russia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iran, and Tanzania. Students of Class 11 with Physics, Chemistry and Maths/Biology as core subjects are eligible to apply for this examination. The NSTSE follows the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus, however, the question papers are also appropriate for students of the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), ISC, and several state board/matriculation syllabuses. You can individually register for the NSTSE or you can register through your school.

    According to the NSTSE 2022 exam pattern, only objective-type questions are asked, with no negative marking for incorrect responses. Common subjects like Chemistry and Physics will have 15 questions each while Critical Thinking will have 5 questions and Maths/Biology will have 25 questions each.

    All students who appear for the NSTSE will get certificates and a Student Performance Report (SPR) based on their performance. A detailed analysis of the strong and weak areas of the student is provided in the SPR. It also provides students’ performance comparison at school, state, and national levels. The first 3 in each class will be awarded gold medals and Cash Awards, or Scholarships. In addition, if any student in any class receives a perfect score (i.e 100% marks), that student will be given a prize of Rs 2 lakh.

    Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) SA:

    The Government of India's KVPY programme encourages students studying Basic Sciences to pursue research careers in Science by awarding significant fellowships and contingency grants to selected KVPY Fellows. In addition, summer camps for KVPY Fellows are held at a number of important research and educational institutes throughout the country. Students who have passed Class 10 Board Examination and are eligible to enrol in Class 11 (Science subjects) during the academic year 2022-23 are eligible to appear for the Aptitude test of KVPY SA 2022.

    The aptitude test is conducted at various centres across the country. And most importantly, the fellowship of the students selected under this programme will be activated only if students join for an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences (i.e BSc/BS/B.Stat/B.Math/Integrated MSc/Integrated MS) in the academic year 2024-25. In addition they should score a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in Science and Mathematics subjects in the Class 12 Board Examination (50% for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Persons With Disability) .

    During the first to third years of BSc/BS/B.Stat/B.Math/Integrated MSc/Integrated MS a Fellowship of Rs 5,000 per month and Contingency Grant of Rs 20,000 per year is provided to students.

    During MSc/fourth to fifth years of Integrated MSc/MS/MMath/MStat a Fellowship of Rs 7,000 per month and Contingency Grant of Rs 28,000 per year is provided to students. In addition, some national laboratories/universities have agreed to provide KVPY Fellows with specific advantages like access to libraries and laboratory facilities, among other things.

    CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme For Single Girl Child:

    This scheme awards scholarships to deserving single girl students who are their parents' only child and who have completed the CBSE Class 10 Examination with a grade of 60 percent or higher and are continuing their education in Classes 11 and 12. The scholarship comprises a monthly award of Rs 500 for a maximum of two years.

    Post Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities

    This programme assists deserving students from minority communities who are economically disadvantaged. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must have received at least 50 percent or an equivalent grade in their previous class, and their parents’ or guardians’ annual income from all sources must not exceed Rs 2 lakh. Through this scholarship actual financial assistance will be provided for students (both hosteller and day scholar in terms of admission and course/tuition fee and also maintenance allowance as mentioned below:

    (i) Rs 7,000/- per annum subject to actuals is given as admission and tuition fee for Class 11 while for technical and vocational courses of Class 11 an amount of Rs. 10,000 per annum subject to actuals is given as admission and course/tuition fee.

    (ii) For Class 11 students doing technical and vocational courses, Maintenance Allowance of Rs 380 per month for hosteller and Rs 230 per month for day scholar is given, while Maintenance Allowance of Rs 570 per month for hosteller and Rs 300 per month for day scholar is given for Class 11 students doing courses other than technical courses.

    Vidyadhan Scholarship program:

    The Vidyadhan Scholarship Program was established by the Sarojini Damodaran Foundation to fund the college education of deserving students from low income families. It provides financial assistance to students who have completed Class 10 and wish to continue their education. After completing Class 10/SSLC, students are chosen through a rigorous selection procedure that includes a test and an interview. Students can continue their education from Class 11 till graduation under the Vidyadhan Scholarship Programme.

    The basic requirements for the scholarship are that students should achieve at least 90% in Class 10 and that their family income does not exceed Rs 2 lakhs per year. Students who intend to continue their education after finishing Class 10 are also eligible for this scholarship. Shortlisted students will receive a maximum of Rs 6,000 per year to continue their studies in Class 11 and 12. If your Class 11 and 12 grades are good, the scholarship will be extended until graduation. The scholarship amount for graduating studies ranges from Rs 10,000 to Rs 60,000 per year, depending on the state, course, duration, and other factors. In addition, selected students will be required to participate in the Foundation's mentoring initiatives.

    Vidyasaarathi SNL Bearing Scholarship Scheme:

    Vidyasaarathi SNL Bearing Scholarship Scheme by NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Limited contributes financial support to students across the country. They provide scholarships for Class 11 students through the Ahmedabad Induction Alloy (AIA) Scholarship Programme.This scholarship is accessible to students who have completed Class 10 with a minimum of 50% marks and are pursuing BSc/BTech/BE/LLB, and diploma courses. This scheme is only open to students whose family income is less than Rs 5 lakh.The scholarship awards Rs 5,000 per year.

    Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship:

    The goal of this award is to acknowledge, promote, and help female students from national minorities who are unable to continue their studies owing to a lack of financial resources. To be eligible for this scholarship, minorities' girl students should be in Class 11, and have received a minimum of 50 percent or equivalent grade in aggregate in Class 10. To be eligible for the scholarship, the annual income of a student's parent/guardian from all sources should not exceed Rs 2 lakh. A scholarship of an amount of Rs. 6000/- will be given to selected students per year.

    Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search Junior Scholarship:

    JBNSTS conducts the Junior Talent Search Test for Class 11 Science students of West Bengal.The goal of this project is to help talented students achieve their scientific goals by nurturing and motivating them. Students who have completed their Class 10 or equivalent examinations with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate and have been accepted into Class 11 in the science stream in the year of application are eligible to take this test. The first phase of the scholarship test involves a written test and on the basis of the performance of the written test, shortlisted candidates are selected for interview (final phase). Then, based on the results of both the written test and the interview, a list of Junior Scholars is announced. The awardees will receive a scholarship of Rs 1,000 per month for two years (Class 11 and 12) as well as the prize amount for books of Rs 2000 per year. Exposure to seminars and workshops geared for young researchers is another benefit.

    Combined Counselling Board Scholarship:

    The goal of the CCB Scholarship is to alleviate the financial burden of students.The Welfare Department of CCB takes care of admission of selected students under the scholarship scheme in its member colleges.To apply for CCB scholarship scheme in Class 11 you should have passed Class 10 from any recognized Board/college/university and also you should be willing to take admission in technical or professional courses. Under this plan, a scholarship will be awarded and adjusted in the fees of CCB affiliated colleges. Scholarships ranging from Rs 60,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh depending on the course and its duration are given to students under the scheme.
