    Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) has enrolled around 7,94,911 students across the nation in its third version. With 22 per cent of the total enrollment, central states stood second, after the eastern states in the list of the highest number of enrollments in the country. In terms of the total certified candidates, it stands fourth among all the zones.

    PMKVY was launched in 2015 by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of the Government of India. It offers a free short-duration skill training certification programme to the youth.

    In all the aspects like enrollment, certified and placed candidates, different zones are in the top position. Highest enrollment are registered in eastern states 23.41 per cent, but the candidates from western states were most certified at 59.86 per cent while the highest placed candidates were from southern states, with 6.73 per cent.

    In this article Careers360 analysed the data for the central states, which included Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. There are a total of six divisions into zones: north, south, east, west, central and the Union Territories.

    PMKVY: Enrolled Candidates

    Central states hold the second highest rank in terms of enrollment of PMKVY candidates over the nation. The states Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh registered the highest number of enrolled candidates among all the states of India. Both states hold the first and second rank respectively in terms of enrolled candidates.

    PMKVY 3.0: Ongoing Training

    Central states had the second highest number of candidates undergoing the PMKVY training when this data was collected in 2021. Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand are among the top five states with the highest number of candidates that were undergoing the PMKVY training programme at the time of data collection.

    PMKVY: Certified Candidates

    Central states could not cross India’s average percentage in terms of the percentage of certified candidates in the PMKVY courses. But Uttar Pradesh is among the top 15 states with the maximum percentage of certified candidates. Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of certified candidates, as well as the highest enrollment; but in percentage the certified candidates out of the total enrollment was only 53.35 per cent.

    PMKVY: Placed Candidates Of Central Zone

    Central zone’s states could successfully cross the average percentage of the country and it holds the third place after western and southern zone.

    The placement data here, as per the PMKVY website, is collected from the training partners and may not be able to give a complete picture.

    After the eastern zone, central zone states have the highest enrollment but the percentage of candidates certified was higher in the central zone states, while the placement percentage had a difference of only about 0.1 per cent.
