    There is no dearth of talent in our country, but many students are unable to make their educational dreams come true due to their financial conditions. To overcome this, the state and central government and many organisations offer scholarships to meritorious and needy students. There are mainly two types of scholarships. One is merit based and the other is exam-based. You can find a list of such scholarships below. There are two ways to get a scholarship. The first one is through a program-specific entrance exam, and the second is based on grades earned in the final examination of the preceding class.     Entrance Exam Based Scholarships For Class 12 Students

    The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana SX (KVPY):

    The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) was created and supported by the central government's Department of Science and Technology (DST) to encourage extraordinarily bright students to pursue fundamental science courses and research professions. The KVPY SX is held in various test centres around the country In November, every year.

    Students enrolled in XII Standard (Science subjects) during the current academic year and aspiring to join undergraduate programs in Basic Sciences are eligible for this programme. The fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an undergraduate course in Basic sciences after having secured a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST/PWD) in Mathematics and Science subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in Class 12 board examination.

    The examination includes subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology, based on the syllabus of Class 12 of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)..

    When they successfully qualify, students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 5,000 and an Annual Contingency Grant (ACG) of Rs 20,000 as fellowship incentives for their first to third year of BSc/BS/B.St/Integrated MSc/MS.

    During 4th to 5th years of Integrated MSc/MS/M.Math/M.Stat, students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 7,000 and an ACG of Rs 28,000. Other benefits are also accessible to KVPY Fellows. On production of the ID card, each KVPY Fellow will be granted admission to National Laboratories/Universities that have agreed to grant special privileges, such as access to the library and laboratory facilities to KVPY Fellows.

    National Level Science Talent Search Examination (NSTSE):

    The National Level Science Talent Search Examination, or NSTSE is a skill test administered by the Unified Council, a professionally managed progressive organisation, with the goal of identifying and nurturing the country's best brains in science. Being a curriculum-based examination, the NSTSE critically assesses a student’s strengths and weaknesses on the basis of concepts. Students of science stream, studying Physics, Chemistry, Maths (PCM) or Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) can participate.

    The NSTSE syllabus is the same as that of CBSE /ICSE/State Board, or any other equivalent board and affiliated institutions at the senior secondary level. Questions will be only in Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) format. For each correct answer 01 marks will be awarded and there is no negative marking for wrong answers. NSTSE topper is awarded Rs 2,000,00 cash prize. The NSTSE topper is the student who receives the greatest percentage of marks across all classes. Each of the top three scorers receives a laptop, a memento, and a medal. Those who rank 4 to 10 and 11 to 40 earn cash rewards of Rs 3,000 and Rs 1,000, respectively. Those who rank 41 to 100 receive an M/s. Brain Mapping Academy Talent & Olympiad Exam Resource Book.

    Vidyadhan Scholarship program:

    The Sarojini Damodaran Foundation's Vidyadhan Scholarship Program helps deserving children from low-income households pursue their dreams of attending college. Students are recruited after completing Class 10/SSLC through a rigorous selection process that involves a test and an interview. Currently, over 4300 students are enrolled in the Vidyadhan programme across the states.

    The main criteria for the scholarship are that students must achieve a grade point average of at least 90% in Class 10 and that their family income must not exceed Rs 2 lakh per year. Students who wish to continue their education after completing Class are also eligible for this scholarship. Students who are shortlisted will receive a maximum of Rs 6,000 per year to pursue their education in Class 11 and 12. The scholarship will be extended until graduation if your grades in Class 11 and 12 grade are good. The amount of scholarship available for graduation studies ranges from Rs 10,000 to Rs 60,000 each year, depending on the state, degree, and duration. Selected students will also be required to engage in the Foundation's mentorship programmes.

    All India Scholarship Test Exam (AISTE):

    The All India Scholarship Test Exam (AISTE) 2022 is a competition for students in class 4 to 12. The goal of this scholarship is to help students with financial aid for their education and well-being. AISTE is provided by Ctoan Consultancy Pvt Ltd. AISTE is an online multiple-choice exam that provides students with an opportunity to compete on a national level. Generally, the exam is conducted in the month of March. Scholarship amount ranges from Rs 90,000 to Rs 50,000, books facilities for a year, and an Excellence Certificate.

    Scholarships For Class 12 Students: Based On Merit

    Post Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities:

    The Post-Matric Scholarship is conducted to give scholarships to deserving students from economically disadvantaged minority communities in order to provide them with greater possibilities for higher education. Scholarships will be given to students who received at least 50% or an equivalent grade in their previous final test and whose parents' or guardians' total annual income is less than Rs 2 lakh. Actual financial aid for entrance and course/tuition fees, as well as a maintenance stipend, will be granted to students as detailed below:

    (i) Admission and tuition fees for Class 12 (both hosteller and day scholar) at Rs 7,000 per annum, subject to actuals, while admission and course/tuition fees for technical and vocational courses are Rs 10,000 per annum, subject to actuals (both hosteller and day scholar).

    (ii) Maintenance Allowance of Rs 380 per month for hosteller and Rs 230 per month for day scholar is given to Class 12 students taking technical and vocational courses, while Maintenance Allowance of Rs 570 per month for hosteller and Rs 300 per month for day scholar is given to Class 12 students taking courses other than technical.

    Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship:

    This scholarship for meritorious girl students from minority communities was previously known as the "Maulana Azad National Scholarship for Meritorious Girl Students from Minority Communities," and was first announced on May 3, 2003.

    Only Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jains, and Parsi female students from the six recognised minority communities are eligible. Scholarships will be given to minority girl students in Class 12 who have received at least 50% or equivalent grade in aggregate in their previous class/qualifying test and whose parent's or guardian's total annual income does not exceed Rs 2 lakh. A scholarship of Rs 6000 will be given to students in Class 12.

    Combined Counselling Board Scholarship:

    The Combined Counselling Board (CCB) Scholarship is an initiative to provide financial assistance to deserving individuals who wish to pursue their education from Class 10 to post graduation. The scholarship is open to students of all backgrounds with a 20% quota for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes students. Tentative date of application is in March, every year..

    You can apply for the CCB scholarship scheme if you are a student of Class 10, Class 12 or in the final year of undergraduate or postgraduate courses in any recognised Board, college, or university and want to enrol in technical or professional courses. All CCB participating colleges are recognised by the All India Council of Technical Education, the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Education of the Government of India, and are associated with State Government Technical/Professional Universities and other essential government departments. Under this plan, a scholarship will be awarded and adjusted to the fees of CCB affiliated colleges.Selected candidates will receive up to 80% of their tuition fees (Rs 60,000- Rs 2,50,000 depending on the course). The scholars are also given a discount on their hostel fees.

    CBSE Merit-Based Scholarship for Single Girl Child:

    The CBSE Merit-Based Scholarship is for students who are their parents' only child. Its purpose is to encourage female candidates to pursue their education in Class 11 and 12. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must have passed Class 10 with a minimum of 60% or have a CGPA of 6.2.The applicant should be studying in Class 12 in any school affiliated to CBSE. Tentative date for this exam is in November.Selected students get Rs 500 per month for a year.

    Post-matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities:

    The Government of India established this scholarship to encourage students with disabilities to continue their education and prepare themselves to earn a dignified living as they face numerous physical, financial and psychological barriers to pursuing studies. Scholarships are available to students who have a 40% or higher grade point average and a verified disability certificate. Students must be enrolled full-time in a government school or a school recognised by the government or by a Central/State Board of Secondary Education and they must be studying in Class 12. As a maintenance allowance, the scholarship amount would be Rs 900 for hostellers and Rs 550 for day scholars each month.

    Arvind Foundation Scholarship

    Arvind Foundation, a CSR branch of Arvind Limited, one of India's top textile manufacturers, has partnered with Vidyasaarathi portal to provide scholarships to poor and meritorious students. Arvind Foundation workers and their children are not eligible for this scholarship. Students pursuing Class 12 courses and qualified Class 10 with a minimum of 50% marks can apply for this scholarship. Only students with a family income of less than Rs 5 lakhs are eligible to apply for this scheme. The scholarship amount is Rs 5000 per year.
