A scholarship is a help given to students based on their academic performance or their need so that they can complete their schooling or higher education. A 2021 report by the central Ministry of Education states that the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) of students in secondary level education is 77.9 percent, which is a good number. However, cases of students dropping out of school after class VIII are still prevalent in many states/Union Territories. In order to reduce the drop-out rate among students at the secondary or higher secondary level, the Government of India and various private organizations have introduced several school-level scholarships for deserving students. Students who are facing a financial crisis and also fulfill the eligibility conditions can avail of these scholarships to fulfill their education dream.

If you are studying in a recognized board then you will find that the syllabus of most of the exam based scholarships are similar to your board syllabus.

Scholarships offered in India can be classified into two categories broadly on the basis of their admission procedures. One Is merit based and the other is entrance test based. Let us have a look at the merit based scholarship first.
