    It is true that quality education is expensive and hence accessible to only a few. As a society we realise that pretty well; and so scholarships are in place to help those youngsters who refrain from pursuing higher education due to financial constraints.

    In this article, we list major scholarships for high school students in January 2023.

    RISE- A Unique Opportunity

    RISE is a programme for academically brilliant and creative students who need an opportunity to perform better. Started by Schmidt Futures and Rhodes Trust, this programme offers numerous benefits such as mentorship, funding, scholarship, and career development ideas for young talents. You also get an opportunity to travel abroad and meet like-minded students.

    Scholarship Details

    • For students from the age group 15-17.

    • It follows different selection criteria. It uses projects, videos and group interviews so that applicants can showcase their talents. They offer text-based selection criteria for those students who don’t have access to video devices.

    • Every year RISE selects 500 students from across the globe who meet at a fully sponsored Residential Summit.

    • Free access to online study material.

    Tata Trust Means Grant 2022-23

    Under the Individual Grants Programme run by The Jamsetjee Nusserwanjee Tata Endowment for The Higher Education Of Indians (Established in 1892), this Educational grant offers partial assistance to school (from class 8) going students.

    Scholarship Details:

    • Fees payment proof must be submitted.

    • For students studying in Mumbai and Mumbai suburban region.

    • Only for those students who passed their previous semester exams.

    • Maximum of two students from one family.

    • Fee receipts, mark sheets for the academic year 2021-22 and family income proof are mandatory.

    How To Apply:

    • Students who fulfil the requirements need to write an application describing their academic and family background.

    Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship, Bengal

    Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means scholarship for the students of Bengal. The Govt. of Bengal runs this scholarship for high school, undergraduates, graduates, postgraduates and PhD students. This scholarship can be availed in all the government-run educational institutes of Bengal.

    Scholarship Details:

    • Partial funding of the fees and stationery expenses depends on the fee structure of the course and institution.

    • Meritorious students get preference with family income equal to or less than Rs. 2.5 LPA.

    • First, you need to apply for your course and after that, you can proceed with an application for this scholarship.

    • The scholarship will continue or be renewed in the next year if students perform well in the first year.

    National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme 2022 (NMMSS)

    NMMSS was launched by the Government of India in 2008 to meet the challenges posed by the dropout rate of economically weaker children. The scholarship aims to help meritorious students from financially unsatisfactory backgrounds to pursue education.

    Scholarship Details:

    • Under the scholarship scheme, Govt. of India offers 1 lakh scholarships to deserving candidates.

    • Family income equal to or less than Rs. 1.5 LPA.

    • The fixed quota of scholarships for classes 8 and 9 in every state/UT. Scholarships for classes 10, 11 and 12 are also available.

    • Clear the state /UT level examinations: Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).

    • The total amount granted is Rs. 12,000/- per annum at Rs. 1000 per month.

    How To Apply:

    • Contact your school or apply on the national scholarship portal (scholarship.gov.in).

    • Late date: January 31, 2023 (dates may extend).

    Combined Counselling Board-CCB (India) Scholarship 2023

    CCB gives scholarships up to 70 per cent in college fees. CCB has a network of colleges that hold 10 to 20 per cent seats for those students who get CCB scholarships. Colleges, where CCB scholarships are available, are The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), UGC (University Grant Commission (UGC), Ministry of Human Resources & Development (MHRD), State government or any other board.

    CCB is currently active in 18-plus states with more than 200 colleges on its list.

    Scholarship Details:

    • The scholarship is available for students of India from SC/ ST/ OBC/ General/ Minority economically weaker sections.

    • There are 20,000 seats available under CCB.

    • Applicants must clear class 10 exams to qualify for this scholarship.

    How To Apply?

    • The application process is simple, apply on ccb.nic.in

    • Attend the counselling session to know about colleges, fees (actual and CCB discounted), locations and placements.
