One of the oldest universities of India, Mumbai University has over 780 affiliated colleges, together offering about 140 different programs. Of these, Commerce enjoys abiding popularity. For admission in a BCom degree course in University of Mumbai, the cut-off in 2021 ranged from 94 percent to as low as 40 percent. The specialised BCom programmes have a higher cut-off compared to the basic BCom programme.

University of Mumbai, informally known as Mumbai University, was established in 1857 making it one of the three very first universities of India. It has now more than 780 colleges affiliated to it, offering over 140 programmes.

One of the most popular programmes is the Bachelors of Commerce (BCom), for which admission is the basis of the Class 12 board exam scores. The aggregate percentages achieved by the students in the higher secondary board exam are compared to draw up the merit lists which are also based on the number of seats available. Students have to register for admission first. If seats remain vacant, colleges issue further merit lists of students in line for admission as per the vacancy.

Careers360 gathered data from third merit list data for some of the Mumbai colleges to get a sense of the minimum scores required for BCom admission, or the cut-off for BCom in 2021 admission.

    Specialised BCOM

Some Mumbai University colleges also offer a “specialised BCom” which focuses on and develops expertise in specific areas such as Economics, Accountancy, Law or Finance.

Colleges offering specialised BCom courses have a different cut-off, which are generally higher than the cut-offs for standard BCom courses.

Tolani College of Commerce offers three more courses in addition to the standard BCom but in a departure from the usual trend, two of them have cut-offs lower than the basic BCom course. BCom in Banking and Insurance, and Financial Markets had a lower cut-off in 2021.
