    Synopsis

If you are looking to learn yoga, stay in practice or become an expert, it is now possible to do so without joining large camps or centres. There is a wide array of options for classes online, teaching yoga asanas to beginners and experts alike. Many of them are free and on YouTube. Here’s a list of six platforms for online yoga classes.

Yoga is an ancient discipline that originated in India but has become wildly popular globally. The essential aim of yoga is to bring harmony between mind and body. The pandemic, having driven everyone indoors for weeks at a time, has also contributed to the popularity of yoga as a means of staying fit at home when other forms of exercise might be difficult.

If you are thinking of becoming a yoga practitioner or just hoping to maintain consistency with your practice, there are options beyond the institutions set up by stalwarts like BKS Iyengar and Baba Ramdev. There are a vast number of YouTube channels that stream videos on different styles of yoga asanas and explain their benefits. However, there are also some paid apps and other platforms where people can get personalised online yoga sessions and fitness sessions under experienced yoga instructors. Everyday in the early morning hours, many TV channels air yoga programmes with experts instructing and performing.

Given below are some of the top-rated Yoga YouTube channels and other well-known sources for yoga classes. The costs mentioned below were originally in US dollars but they have been converted into rupees as per the conversion rates in early March. As is evident from the list below, the online yoga scene is dominated mostly by practitioners outside India.
