What are the difference between BE and B tech? And which one should I choose for my career?

shubham gautam 29th Jan, 2020

Hey Susovan,

B.E. stands for Bachelor of Engineering which is a under graduate level program done directly after your 10+2. After a student's 12th exam, the candidate has to appear for any state or national level engineering entrance through which you will get an admittance into an engineering college. The course of this degree focuses on theoretical knowledge needed to innovate technology and make new technical gadgets. This course is basically knowledge oriented where the main focus will be given toward theoritical part. During this course Industrial visit and Internship might happen, which is not very sure.

where as, B.Tech stands for Bachelor Of Technology which is also a Under  graduate level program done directly after your 10+2.  After your 12th exam, To get this degree, you have to appear for many state or national level engineering entrance through which you will get admittance into a college that provides B.Tech. There are many such universities. The course of this degree focuses mainly on application and skill based study and is useful if one is interested in modifying structures to enhance their quality.  This course will give you more focus on practical knowledge. During this course you can be a part of Industrial training or Internship.

Now looking toward Job oppurtunities,The B.E graduates, as well as B.Tech graduates, Both will get offers from public, Private, and goverment sectors. If you are choosing B.E you will easly get offers from companies which calls for innovation and development of hardware. At the same time, If you choose B.Tech you can seek jobs that are focused more on improving the efficiency and modification of the existing hardware.

Now coming to conclusion, It's really hard to decide which course is better between the two. because both these courses have their own importance and place in the society. If you wish to join a field that is involved with the manufacturing of electronic equipments, then the BE field is more suitable for you. If you want to join a field that makes electronic equipments more attractive by modifying them, then the B.Tech course is more suitable. Under this courses there are many specialization like Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Computer Science, Information Technology and many more. you can choose either of these fields on the basis of your personal interest.

Since, B.Tech will provide more technical and practical knowledge. The exposure you get in a degree will help you in reaching greater heights. No other course can give you a life experience rather than Here you can learn about extra activities like Social marketing, startups, literature, poetries, arts while doing I will suggest you to prefer B.Tech over B.E.

If you want to know which are the best colleges/Universities which offers BE/B.Tech along with their ranks, Please refer to below link:

thomas joy 29th Jan, 2020

Hi there,

Cutoff for the colleges will be depending on

  • Number of candidates appeared for the exam
  • The difficulty level of exam
  • Avaiability of seat.

Taking last year' cutoff trends, above 200 score is required for the admission in Narsee monjee college. Mostly above 210.

You can try one more time for admission.

Hope this will help you.

Thank you

i got 22 percentile in Jan--JEE MAIN, any chances of getting govt college, Category -Gen?

Raj Aryan Sharma 29th Jan, 2020

Hi Shirish.

The official cutoff of JEE Mains will be released long with the final results after the April Mains. The NTA will announce category wise cutoffs then. But you can still check your estimated rank using the formula (100-your total percentile)*869010/100. So with this percentile, your estimated All India rank is around 6,75,000+ . With this rank, you will Not be able to clear JEE Mains.

So, NO you don't have a chance of getting any government college. Your only bet are private colleges and Management quotas if you need a good branch like CSE.

Still, you can check out this college predictor for more -
