Does MICA considers CAT score or only the MICAT? And if it does what could be the cutoff?

Yes for MICA you must have given either CAT/XAT in order to be eligible for MICAT which is an aptitude cum psychometric test.
A percentile above 85 for both CAT and XAT is considered a good one for admission in MICA. However, MICA gives most weight to its own MICAT exam which comprises of 36 compulsory psychometric questions, 25 verbal ability questions, 25 quantitative reasoning questions, 25 general awareness questions,  30 divergent-convergent reasoning questions and 4 compulsory descriptive questions.
MICA releases a sample paper on its website before test for reference of students.
Each question carries one mark.
The cutoff is usually 45+.
It's, however, mandatory to pass the psychometric test without which one fails to get calls despite a very good score in MICAT itself.
All the best!!

MICA doesn't consider CAT/XAT percentile or score for shortlisting students for GE-PI or for computation of composite scores. So don't worry about CAT or XAT, only focus on getting a high score in MICAT (QA, LR, VA-RC and General Awareness) and passing the psychometric test for sure. All the best!!

The selection process involves three steps. The process is described below:
Step-I:CAT/ XAT/GMAT*.
Each candidate has to take at least one of the three exams: CAT/ XAT/GMAT*.
Step-II:MICA Admission Test (MICAT)**.
All candidates are assessed on MICAT, which consists of 6 sections: Psychometric (P), Verbal ability (VA), Quantitative ability and Data Interpretation (QADI), General awareness (GA), Divergent and Convergent Thinking (DCT), and Descriptive Test (DT).
Step 3: Personal Interview and Group task
All the best!

Thanku so much.. just another question.. Is there a cutoff for the step 1. Exams or just appearing will be considered. I scored 61%tile in CAT and I do not except much from my XAT scores. Shall I apply for MICA or not? Can u suggest other good B-schools for communication Management?

There is no as such minimum CAT percentile so you can apply but you need a high score in MICAT to increase your chances of getting a call.

I would suggest to apply for MICAT as it is the topmost institute for PGDM Communication degree. Other institute as SIMC are not even close to MICA. Prepare well. All the best

For QA, VA, DI sections CAT preparations are enough, however the difficulty is lesser and you can work on your weak areas. For GK refer to websites for business and advertising news. For psychometric test no preparation is required and you to be authentic while attempting. For creative writing you need to study some short stories and other relevant things available online. Join a FB group named Vitamin Mica for peer learning. Prepare well. All the best!
