Hi there!

Its great that you want to start a future in fashion designing. After completing 12th, there are a lot of Entrance exams like NIFT, NID, CEED etc, through which you can get admission in the first year of a 3year course of fashion designing. This a full-time course.

If you want to pursue a diploma course, then there are lot of private colleges in India that conducts there own entrance exams. Some of them are Pearl Academy, LPU, Amity University, NIFT etc. Most of the diploma courses are of 1 year duration, however some colleges offer a 2-year-diploma also.

If you have just passed 12th, you can either take admission in first year of UG course, or first year of Diploma by attempting any entrance exam that the private colleges conduct once a year.

Hope this helps!

Dear Areeba,

There are certain entrance exam you need to crack to get into the fashion designing courses in India. Different insitutute conduct separate entrance test. For eg, If you want to study in NIFT then you have to give NIFT Entrance test. Similary there are entrance tests for NID and Peal Academy. NIFT, which is one of the top most fashon designing colleges in India conducts 4yrs diploma courses. NID also conduct 4yrs diploma courses in fashion designing.

Nowadays, a lot of career oppoutunities are there in fashion designing which includes textile industries, garments industries, retail industries etc. Also there is oppoutunity in some govt and semi govt manufacturers.
