Well, I must say that there no field in which females are not performing good and same is for metallurgy department. It is more than red hot iron or heat furnaces. If you perform good and have a good interest in subject then you might be the ideal for other females. Many companies like DRDO, Taiwan Semiconductors, SAIL, TATA Motors, TATA Steel, Jindal Steel, NALCO, IOCL, 3M etc hire the candidates from metallurgy department. Also, you can go for non core companies such as bank of America, Schlumberger, maruti Suzuki etc.

Metallurgical engineering is as good a department as it can be for both boys and girls who are interested.In fact,there are many lady professors in department of metallurgical engineering in IITB,which is good career option for girls if they choose to opt for.

Metallurgical engineers find jobs in manufacturing or metallurgical labs,automobile industry,mining sector,gems and stone industries,space exploring department and many more.

You will find good career options in the government companies, for which you have to prepare for exam like GATE. Many PSUs recruit metallurgy students, like, IOCL, RINL, SAIL, NALCO, NMDC, DRDO, ISRO, BIS, JWM(Metallurgy)At Ordnance Factory at Ministry of Defence etc.
