FASHION DESIGNING:
Minimum eligibility for the Undergraduate course in this field is 10+2 with 50% marks and for Postgraduate courses graduation. In the prominent institutes, admission is strictly on merit- through written test, situation test, group discussion, an interview. While 10+2 is sufficient for accessory designing and Fashion Designing, graduates are PREFERRED FOR OTHER COURSES.

- TEXTILE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

Prominent institutes in Fashion Technology are National Institute O Fashion Technology, National Institute Of Design, International Institute Of Fashion Technology, IEC School Of Art And Fashion, Indian Institute Of Art And Fashion Technology. Most trained designers get a stipend of around Rs. 4000, but what you can learn in working as a part of a design team fetches around Rs.12,000 a month.
JEWELRY DESIGNING:
For Diploma, Degree, and Certificates courses in Jewellery designing, one should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from ay stream of a recognized institution. Several short term courses are offered for those who have completed their 10th class. Before qualifying for the course, a student has to pas an aptitude test followed by an interview. Duration of the courses may vary from 3-6 months to 2-3 years. The minimum age required is 15 years. At the initial stage, a trained jewelry designer can expect a salary of Rs 7,000- Rs 8,000 per month. With experience, they would be paid a sum of Rs. 18,000 to 20,000 per month. In retail stores, one can work on a commission basis and depending upon the organization and their talent, they would be paid extremely well.
