MBA in general is about choosing what you want to do in life. So, before you decide to choose a specialization and stick to it ask yourself this:-

  • What is your key area of interest?
  • What are the subjects you are good at?
  • Do you have a work experience of that particular specialization?
  • What is the current status of that specialization?

MBA in Finance

An MBA programme specialising in Finance prepares graduates to make and review financial decisions for their future organisations.  Finance is pretty easy but you need to like it. It’s a lot like one of those papers which is easy if you put your mind to it but if you don’t like it, you are never going to get it. While it may seem to be a better fit for a person from a Commerce background, I’d recommend it for others as well. If you have a passion for numbers, possess good analytical skills, and number crunching is your forte, an MBA in Finance could be the ideal choice for you. Studying financial management helps graduates gain knowledge in fields like data analysis, financial accounting, and finance. Professionals  are involved in making decisions on how to obtain, manage and distribute funds for various projects, researching and analysing investment options, auditing financials, etc. Initial salary is around 3.5 lpa.

MBA in Marketing

MBA in Marketing is about the marketing and sale of products and services that companies offer. Have an aggressive approach to sell/persuade/communicate with customers. Comprehensive understanding of target customers. Exceptional Communication skills (Soft Skills), critical thinking and quick at learning new technologies. Your aim as a manager would be to maximize the revenue of the company by ensuring the sales figures are always up and the marketing of the product is done properly. Customer satisfaction is of utmost importance for any company and your goal would be to achieve that. Strategic planning, economics, financial analysis, consumer behavior, business trends, sales & marketing are the areas you need to focus on. You need to have a positive outlook and a zeal to sell anything. Initial salary is around 3 lpa.

Go over the above lines in order to know what suits you best.

I hope this answers your query.
